Another set of results came by, and this time it was good, but not as great as I had imagined. We won the routine games against smaller sides, but an unfortunate slip against a team in the bottom half.
Coventry was dispatched easily in the Carling Cup, but they played very well, despite their loss. I am very pleased to have progressed in this competition as this is a very winnable competition. Balotelli and Alberto Moreno scored our goals.
Wins over Leicester and Olympiakos continued. But then it was a deserved loss against Queens Park Rangers. We put in our worst performance of the season, and they were easily the deserving winners.
An unfortunate draw in the Capital One Cup means we now have to play Chelsea in the 4th Round, and in their ground. I don't think we can get through that, and there goes one of my competitions.
In the Champions League we are currently in second place behind Benfica, but I am confident that we can win this group.
In the match against Coventry, Mignolet had to go off injured. That meant he was not going to play in the next three games. And that resulted in a lot of goals being conceded. Brad Jones, our goalie, put in his worst performance against Olympiakos and QPR, even though we won against the former. And add to that Long term injuries to Coutinho and Sturridge meant we were now down to bare bones.
In Other Leagues......
In Germany, the top three was unmoved, and their was nothing special about it.
In Spain, Valencia overtook Barcelona and moved up to first place. Real Madrid moved up to 4th.
In France, P$G have moved all the way down to 4th, and now Marseille were in charge
