In 1904, the City of Leeds saw the birth of its first professional football club, Leeds City. Like its Elland Road predecessors, the club adopted a blue, yellow and white colour scheme and were elected into the Football League in 1905.
On the back of the demise of Holbeck Rugby Club, City moved into Elland Road and erected the ground's first stand- a wooden structure on the South side, capable of holding 5,000 spectators.
In 1912, the club elected early 20th Century managerial visionary Herbert Chapman as manager. Under Chapman, City achieved their highest ever league finish as they finished 4th in the Second Division.
The club's demise came about following the illegal payment of players during the First World War. The allegations were found to be true and in 1919, City were dissolved. They were replaced by their more successful predecessors Leeds United just months later.
1920s
The club was resurrected as an amateur club in 1924, playing in the Yorkshire Football League. They didn't last as long as before however, and dissolved three years later in 1927.
2006

After nearly 80 years of non-existence, Leeds City were once again resurrected as an amateur side for the 2006/07 season, ironically in the same season that saw Leeds United go on the brink of extinction. They no longer play at Elland Road for obvious reasons, and they now currently occupy the football pitch at the Adel War Memorial Association in North Leeds.
The club began life in the West Yorkshire League (WYL) Second Division from which they won promotion in their first season. City enjoyed further success in 2007/08, winning promotion to the WYL Premier Division.
City have had a few further flirts with promotion since then, finishing 2nd in 2009, 2013 and 2015; as well as 3rd placed finished in 2010, 2011 and 2014.
In cup competitions, the club have won the West Riding County Challenge Cup in 2012, the Leeds & District Cup in 2013 and the West Yorkshire League Cup in 2015.
THE SEARCH FOR A MANAGER
The club has enjoyed some successful years since its revival in 2006, but is looking for a manager to take it to the next level. They've remained in the WYL Premier Division for seven years now, and are looking for a manager to bring success and take them closer to a return to the Football League.
