It's still very early days, anything can happen.

Liverpool Face Off Against Tottenham in Early-Season Six Pointer

With Ghoulam out, Alberto Moreno returned to his usual left-back slot, and Liverpool were hoping the Spaniard could show some of the brilliant football he was capable of.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media yesterday, and stated he was looking to play a free-flowing, attacking game; a game which Liverpool would have to be alert to, especially with players like Harry Kane and Erik Lamela likely to line up for Tottenham.
Liverpool Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Fernando Muslera, Nathaniel Clyne, Aleksandr Dragovic, Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno, James Milner, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Phillipe Coutinho, Danny Ings
Liverpool Subs: Simon Mingolet, Martin Skrtel, Lucas, Danny Ings, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Maia, Christian Benteke
Tottenham Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Dejan Lovren, Jan Vertonghen, Nabil Bentaleb, Moussa Dembele, Erik Lamela, Cristian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane
Tottenham Substitutes: Michel Vorm, Kyle Walker, Filip Kostic, Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Clinton N'Jie
Liverpool kicked off, and the two teams seemed to be sounding each other out - some steady passing moves marked the first 5 minutes, until a quick break from Nacer Chadli down the left ended in a Spurs throw-in - Nathaniel Clyne the man with the heroic block from the cross. From the throw, Dembele brought the ball down the left wing, before cutting inside, and driving a low, hard cross into the middle. Muslera was equal to it, though, and threw himself on the ball, before clearing the ball with an upfield kick.
The kick only found Dejan Lovren, though and the ex-Liverpool man found Chadli with a searching ball forward. The cross this time met the head of Harry Kane, who forced two exquisite stops from Muslera in quick succession before Mamadou Sakho stepped in to clear the ball.
Liverpool were on the ropes, and Tottenham kept coming. The clearance from Sakho only made it as far as Lovren on the half-way line, but his header was met by Emre Can, who slowed play down and set about giving his side a level head in midfield, recycling possession and letting them build from the back.
Another five minutes of steady play passed, and Tottenham remained the dominant side; Eriksen's cross found Kane in the middle once more, but as the Englishman rose above Sakho to drive a header towards goal, the two clashed heads and Kane required medical attention. All seemed well though, as the Striker returned to the field shortly afterwards, but not before Erik Lamela picked up a yellow card for a Cynical trip on James Milner. The game was steadily developing a steel edge, as both teams fought for supremacy.
Liverpool carved their first chance after 25 minutes, when James Milner's corner fell to Roberto Firmino just outside the box. He squared it to Danny Ings to the right of the penalty spot, but the Englishman's shot was brilliantly met by Hugo Lloris with a glorious diving save.
It was Spurs who eventually made the breakthrough, just after the half-hour mark, when Moussa Dembele ran onto the end of Lamela's cross from deep, volleying past Muslera with aplomb to set the Tottenham fans into a frenzy. Tottenham were the side in the ascendancy, and Harry Kane doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime, splitting the defence in two, capitalising on some sloppy defending from Sakho to stroke the ball past Muslera in the Liverpool goal. As the teams went in at half time, Liverpool were sinking without trace.
The second half saw a change of formation from Liverpool, as Carragher looked to catch Tottenham as they reached complacency. There were no substitutions, although both Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino had failed to have an impact on the game in the first half.
The change of formation didn't seem to have much effect, though, as Harry Kane doubled his tally just five minutes after the restart. Carragher sprung into action, replacing Nathaniel Clyne, who had struggled with his man-marking duties, with young right back Trent Alexander Arnold. Christian Benteke also replaced Danny Ings, who had been spectacularly ineffective, while Jordan Henderson replaced Emre Can in midfield.
The substitutes combined 5 minutes later to pull a goal back for Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold took a quick throw-in deep in the Liverpool half, finding Sakho with a long ball. The Frenchman knocked the ball forwards to Milner - one of Liverpool's standout performers in a poor display - who played it left to Coutinho. The Brazilian's ball forward found Henderson, and the club captain found the onrushing Alexander-Arnold on the right flank. The youngster played in Firmino, who's lobbed pass found Benteke in oceans of space in the Spurs box, and the former Aston Villa man made no mistake, powering his volley past Hugo Lloris.
But there was to be no fairy-tale ending. A Christian Eriksen free-kick found Dembele unmarked, and he dispatched a smooth volley to make it 4-1 to Tottenham on a miraculous afternoon at White Hart Lane. In the end, it was a deserved victory for the London side, although Liverpool fans are bound to be disappointed not to have taken more from the game.
