Sami Hyypia named as Inverness manager

Liverpool hero Sami Hyypia has been appointed as the new manager for Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The Finn had a decorated career, appearing 464 times for Liverpool and winning an FA Cup, League Cup and Uefa Cup treble in the famous 2000/01 season with them.

He won 105 caps for his country and won Finnish player of the year 10 times.

The ex-Red has previously managed Leverkusen, Brighton and FC Zurich, all of which he was dismissed from due to poor results.

"I am hoping to make a good impression here."

"I need to get my career back on track."
Great choice for a manager
Great choice of manager and great choice of club, I have always wanted to do a save with them!
Great and really interesting choice of a manager! Will be cool to see where this goes!
Good luck!

A mixed set of results in terms of friendlies, where the side lost to Dumbarton 1-0 but won outright in their next three. The first leg of European cup qualifiers was not incredibly easy, and Inverness lost 2-1 in the first leg, away at Icelandic side Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar. Then came a break between European cup qualifiers, with a well-fought friendly against Premier League side Watford, who came away with an undeserved 2-0 win. The next game was once again against Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar, which was a great game for neutrals, ending 3-3. Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar won on aggregate. The final pre-season friendly was a bore-draw with German side Koln.

Unlucky to be knocked out of Europe, hopefully the domestic season will prove to be brighter!
Some good results in there but a shame about being knocked out of Europe! Hopefully a good season in the league can see you return next year!
Unlucky with Europe hopefully not an indication of things to come
Knocked out of Europe early... heartbreaking!
