This story will see me take on possibly one of Football Manager's most loved teams, in the name of Sassuolo, although I'll still be continuing my New York City save as a side project.

I have a lot of love for Sassuolo as they have been one of my favorite teams to manage over the past couple of years, but now I want to share that story.

This is an intro to The Sassuolo Story, where I'll be highlighting what I want to achieve, and any challenges I'll be taking up on the journey, but in the next couple of updates I'll be adding a storyline as I find writing that way to be much more enjoyable than just writing a standard story.

Let me give you a background of Sassuolo.

Originally founded in 1920, the club played in Amateur divisions of Italy until it's first ever promotion in 1968 to the Serie D, Italy's 4th division. The club were never called U.S Sassuolo until they merged with other amateur teams to form the current Sassuolo club in 1974.

However as it came up to year of 2000, the clubs fortunes changed, managing to go from the Serie D to the Serie A is just 13 years, and then this year qualifying for Europa League football. This success has led them to become one of FM's most liked teams, and one of the most respected teams in Italian football.

Nowadays they are blessed with players such as Domenico Berardi, Nicola Sansone and Alfred Duncan, who are all top quality Serie A players, so they do have the quality to go and push on for Champions League football. But the club do have 1 major drawback. As the club achieved success in such little time, they have never really had a chance to improve their facilities and are in an appalling state for a club of their statue, so this will be my first concern during this save.

Sassuolo appoint unknown English Manager

Today it can be confirmed that unknown English Manager Alex Hurd has been appointed manager of Sassuolo for the upcoming season, in what looks like a massive change for the club.

The club have said that:

'We have goals, in the next 5 years we want to overtaking Juventus as the best Italian team and have a club that's capable of showing itself on the worldwide stage. Appointing Alex Hurd is just the start of that change, but we've been extremely ambitious in the past, it's time to take that ambition further. We're still a small fish in a big pond, so we needed someone with the kind of experience at small teams, Alex has that and he wanted to be part of this club straight away when we approached him.'

It's unknown what else will be changing here at Sassuolo, but one thing is for sure, this looks like an exciting time for Sassuolo fans and Italian Football in general.

With a squad possessing some potential world class talent, it shouldn't take long for Sassuolo to hit the big time, but as we know, things are never that straight forward in football.
Seriously tough task ahead of you based on the goals you have set yourself, I really hope to see you stick with this and turn it into an amazing story

Shock as Berardi asks to leave club

It's a headline all Sassuolo fans didn't want to see, Domenico Berardi has asked to leave the club if Sassuolo cannot win the Serie A this season. Already involved in much transfer controversy already in his short career, the fans are shocked he would want to leave such an ambitious club.

The challenge has just got a lot harder for the new man in charge, as now the fans will be demanding the league title in order to keep the best player ever to pull on a Sassuolo shirt.

But Hurd may also be looking to sell Berardi after the first season anyway, as it's clear to see he doesn't want to be at the club, and they can make a huge profit on him. Is Hurd just using Berardi for his own benefit?

Sassuolo draw Torpedo Schodsina and complete first signing

In their first ever time in the Europa League, Sassuolo have drawn against Belarusian side Torpedo Schodsina in what should be a relatively easy game, but as we know there are no easy games in football.

We are also delighted to confirm our first signing of the summer, as we have bought Lincoln from Gremio for a fee of £1.8 Million. However Lincoln won't join the club until 2017 as he is only 16 years old, is he Berardi's potential replacement?
Berardi wanting to leave is a tough one but you should be able to show him the light by having a successful season :P
