Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has today taken one of his bravest steps in the transfer market as Liverpool boss, giving a second chance to Watford reject George Byers who was released by the Championship side at the end of last season having made only 1 first-team appearance, despite being at the club since he was 7.
Now 19, the Scottish central midfielder will be hoping his time at Liverpool will offer him a springboard for his career. Technically sound, and willing to put a shift in throughout a game, Byers certainly seems like he will complement Klopp's system at Liverpool, but he will have to wait at least a year to make his impression at Anfield, as both he and team-mate Cameron Brannagan have been loaned to Scottish club Motherwell for the season, in a bid to secure more first team football.
Byers is not the only youngster to be making the switch to Liverpool, although his fellow new arrival - Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus - is less of an unknown quantity, having attracted attention from Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid before signing on the dotted line with Liverpool.
The youngster scored 9 goals in 28 appearances before agreeing his contract with Liverpool, and will spend the remainder of the year on loan at his former club, and has already increased his tally to 10 goals and 2 assists in 32 matches, form which he will hope to carry into the Premier League next season.
Talking about both of his new signings this morning, boss Jurgen Klopp was excitable, claiming that both of his new players have the potential to make a real difference at the club, and forge out impressive careers.
