Hey, my name is Sigge. I am going to share my career story. It's not new, I've started it 8 months ago and I'm in summer 2025 now. I will try to describe season 2025-26 and onwards in newspaper style, updating it after every few matches. For the beginning of the story, I'm briefly going to describe my past. I hope my journey will be interesting. See you later
My name is Sigge Lagerquist. I was born on 28 October 1976 in small town Ängelholm in southern Sweden, on the coast of North Sea. I have always liked football, and as a kid, I used to play it with my friends every day.
After I finished my school, I got a job in local car manufacture, Koenigsegg AAB. I played my favorite sport at my town club, Ängelholms IF. My grandfather was one of the founders of the Ängelholms IF while my father used to play for the club in 70s and 80s.
I made my debut for the first team when I was 19 years old. We played in fifth, sixth tier of Swedish league system, so we were far from professional football. It was just my hobby and I wasn't paid. I met many friends in the team, including my best friend Mats Johansson. He liked football as much as me and we spent a lot of time together.
When I was in my mid-twenties, I started making a family. I got married in 2000 and my first son was born the same year. Everything was going perfect, until I injured my ankle in 2001. I had to quit football. It was a huge shock for me. But I got over it.
Next year, my second son was born. Years were passing, I was working at Koenigsegg, my sons were growing up, but I missed football. My best friend Mats became a president of Ängelholms IF in 2008.
But then, my life changed. On a sunny summer day, I received a letter...
It was a letter from Ängelholms IF. Their U-19 manager has quit his job, and Mats wanted me to take over. I was delighted, I immediately called Mats and I came to club to sign contract. The team has accepted me well and we felt great togetherness.
It was my first step into a managerial career and I was U-19 coach for 6 years. We won our regional league in 2011 and 2015. I was glad to be able to work at my beloved club again. Many players from youth team were promoted to first team, which was playing in Superettan, second league.
But in 2015, just few weeks after our U-19 league win, even bigger opportunity came for me. The manager The president was really happy with my managing of U-19 team and he offered me a vacant first team job.
