BREAKING: RED BULL BUY LEEDS

Soft drinks giant Red Bull have acquired a 100% stake in Leeds United, following negotiations with club owners Eleonora Sport (run by Massimo Cellino, with a 75% stake) and GFH Capital (run by Hisham Alrayes, with the remaining 25%).

Red Bull CEO Dietrich Mateschitz seems to be making no secret of the fact that major changes will be brought about. A spokesman confirmed that the club's name will be changed to Red Bull Leeds for the beginning of the 2015/16 season. The kits for next season were also unveiled following the takeover, as the club will undergo colour changes, as white home shirts with red trim and vice versa for away shirts replace the traditional all-white home kits and blue/yellow away outfits.

What does this mean for the club's fanbase? Leeds United Supporter's Trust chairman Gary Cooper released a statement shortly after the takeover stating his disappointment with the takeover. Following a breakdown in the fan group's relationship with Red Bull in the weeks leading up to the deal, Cooper did hint at the possibility of having to resurrect the Leeds United name as a phoenix club, although nothing as yet has been confirmed.

All staff and players have left the club in protest at the Red Bull buyout, which means there will be a rebuild in personnel, as yet another club with a proud history becomes consumed by the evil demons of modern football.

LEEDS: FAN GROUP ANNOUNCES SPLIT

The Leeds United Supporters Trust (LUST) have announced in a statement this evening that following weeks of negotiations with various Leeds-supporting investors and consultation with their 10,000 members, they will discontinue their association with Leeds Red Bulls (formerly Leeds United) entirely, in order to embark on a new footballing venture. LUST, backed by said investors will start a phoenix club.

The name "Leeds United" has been sold to LUST, and it is the name that will be used for the new club.

"Essentially, we're just picking up where we left off, except we will now play in a lower division and until further notice, a different ground" explained LUST chairman Gary Cooper.

"We are aware that the board at Red Bull Leeds wish to move the club to a new stadium, which would open up an opportunity for us to negotiate a tenancy with the current land owners in the future, should we be in a position to do so"

No further word has been given regarding personnel and which division the club will start in.
This looks exciting mate, best of luck! Hopefully you can topple the Red Bull regime quickly

UNITED AGREE TENANCY AT HAWKS HOME

The newly resurrected Leeds United have agreed a tenancy with Leeds City Council for the club to play its home fixtures at the South Leeds Stadium.

A part of the sports facility known as the John Charles Centre for Sport (incidentally named in honour of the Leeds United legend), the South Leeds Stadium has been the home of local rugby league club Hunslet Hawks since 1995.

The stadium consists of a two-tiered stand on one side with a capacity of 4,000. This stand runs approximately two thirds of the length of the pitch and sits astride the halfway line. Due to the reduced rent that the club will pay for the ground however, only the bottom tier will be open, reducing the capacity to 2,500.

This won't be the first time the stadium has been used by Leeds United, as the club have occasionally played its reserve matches there.
Lets hope you get to use Elland Road eventually ;)
