Glasgow Rangers Revival

I'm going to give this story writing lark one last go and if it fails I'll give it up and just read what you pros put on the site because you guys make it look so easy writing the stories.

INTRO

After being a silent reader of Feliks's "Celtic - Brendan's Bhoys" and seeing what a brilliant job he is doing on his save I'm going to do a challenge in the Scottish League. Now after thinking about delving into the lower leagues for more of a challenge i really haven't got the time at this moment to take a League 2 team up to become European Champions and the like so I've plumped for the other giant in Glasgow in Rangers FC. Now let me inform you readers when they did drop to League 2 in Scotland on FM2013 i got them to the Championship with back to back promotions but i lost the save and never really got the motivation to start it up again (Until now)

PLAN FOR THE STORY

I've been trying to post photos on here of my saves for my other stories but with no joy so it will be sort of story mode with just a brief report of the matches and more of a "Newspaper article" type for any transfers that happen within the club and any long term injuries (1 month or more) and an update on the league table on the 1st of every month (until the run-in if it's close at the top then it will be after every game).

I will also do a newspaper article style with award winners such as "Team of the week" squad and end of season awards for the league that I'm involved in.

Sorry to the readers who followed my other stories (I've kept the saves in case i feel another shot at them) but i hope you keep following me because i have a feeling this is going to be a good save with a lot of targets to achieve with Rangers FC.

SIDENOTE:
If you are a Celtic fan reading this i would like to point out i have no affiliation with Rangers at all i just thought it would be a tougher challenge because Celtic already have the squad that will win the league and Rangers's squad just needs a bit more work doing to it.

RANGERS APPOINT THE PROFESSOR AS NEW MANAGER

Last night Scottish giants Rangers FC chairman Dave King has announced that 27 year old former England international The Professor as the new clubs manager on a 1 year contract worth £3,800 a week at Ibrox.

The Professor with 37 England caps for his country during his playing career takes to the Ibrox hot seat with immediate effect after being the outstanding candidate and his determination to get the club promoted to the top flight at the first time of asking as well as going deep into both cup competitions. It is believed he will be keeping Assistant Manager David Weir to help him settle in and give him some early advice on the squad.

Rangers fans are hungry for success after being relegated to the bottom tier in 2012 after failing to reach an agreement with creditors which led to the clubs holding company enter the process of liquidation.

After the CVA proposal was rejected, the Administrators completed a going concern sale of the business and assets to a new company.

With the new company needing to re-apply for an SFA License, the Ibrox club failed to secure the transfer of the old co's place in the Scottish Premier League, Rangers were then accepted into the Scottish Football League and placed in the lowest division, the Third, rather than the First Division as the SPL and SFA had sought. Then after back to back promotions to the Championship, Rangers took a gamble by naming a new manager to bring a fresh look to the club and push on to where the club think they rightly deserve to be.

Will this be the right decision for the club going forward? Only time will tell.

The Professor looking forward to Rangers challenge

On a sunny morning in Glasgow, The Professor walks in for his first press conference in front of a gathering press room looking smart in his suit and tie but looking very nervous about what type of questions will be thrown at him as he begins his Rangers career. He began talking about what a privilege it is managing such a successful club but is aware of the recent history and plight the club has fallen.

He then spoke of how bright the future looks despite the club not getting promoted last season as expected but almost guaranteeing the fans the team will achieve the goal of promotion this time with the squad at his disposal it will be tough for anyone to doubt him.

He has met with the squad yesterday at the clubs training ground to evaluate what type of players he already has at the club. He has reassured the players everyone will get a chance to show what their capable of doing and it doesn't look like he is looking to bring any players in over the next couple of months.

It is also believed that after speaking with a few fans around Ibrox that they are looking optimistic about this new era the club are in. The club have a intra-friendly against the reserves tomorrow then have set up a training camp at home in Scotland arrange to play against Hearts (H), Motherwell (A), Dundee (H) and Cambuslang Rangers (A) before starting the season competitively in the Challenge Cup and League Cup 1st round.

Rangers start new season at Ibrox

Sky Sports understands that Rangers begin their 2nd season in the Championship at home against St Mirren followed by a trip to Alloa then a tricky home tie against Hibernain. Over the festive period Rangers travel to Falkirk followed by a Boxing Day fixture at home to Hibernian then they begin the new year away to Dumbarton and finally the run-in sees Rangers travel to Raith then host Dumbarton then finishing the season with a trip to St Mirren.

Rangers quartet in the physio room upon new managers arrival

The Professor walked into an injury crisis in his first week as Rangers new boss, Goalkeeper Cammy Bell (Damaged Shoulder) is expected to be out for between 7-9 months,

Attacking Midfielders Harry Forrester (Out for 3-4 months) and David Templeton (Out for 13-14 months) both have (Strained ankle ligaments) as well as Central Defender Aidan Wilson who is out with a broken leg for 5-7 months.

The Professor announced that he's spoken to all 4 players reassuring them not to worry about anything and for them to just focus on their recoveries and getting back on that training field.

Rangers favourites for the Championship Title

The bookies have installed Rangers as Even favourites for the Championship title this season with Hibernian closely behind at odds of 6/4 with 3rd favourites St Mirren out at 12/1 so by the bookies reckoning it is going to be a straight battle between Rangers and Hibernian for the title with the other teams aiming to grab the play off spots come the end of the season and with it a chance of Premier League football for next season.

With the draw pitting a semi-professional outfit at home to a bigger team in The Gers, a bumper crowd is expected for what will be undoubtedly a fascinating tie.

Lyon set to move on loan at Cowdenbeath

17 years old Rangers Scottish midfielder Ross Lyon has agreed a deal with Cowdenbeath to go out on loan for the rest of the season. Lyon is happy to go along with Rangers wishes to go out and get first team experience.

News reports just coming in also from Ibrox and I'm just hearing that Ross Lyons the Rangers midfielder who's just agreed a deal to go out on loan at Cowdenbeath has just agreed a new contract with Rangers the deal will keep him at the club until May 2017

Rangers supporters are delighted with the news that the club exciting young prospect has committed his future to the club and can now look forward to watching him develop into a class player.

Done Deal: Derby snap up Law

Derby County have completed the signing of Rangers attacking midfielder Nicky Law for a fee of £36,000. Subject to conditions, however the fee could rise to £49,000.

It is believed however that Sheff Utd will receive 4% of the deal as well as Rotherham and Motherwell both receiving 0.5% each.

Law was part of the Rangers side who were crowned Ladbrokes League 1 champions in 2014.

Derby fans are keen to see how Law fares after making the leap to a much bigger club but are prepared to let him play a few games first.

Rangers tie up Forrester contract

Rangers winger Harry Forrester (24) has signed a new contract with the club.

The new deal will keep him at Ibrox until May 2017.

A supporters spokesman says he has doubts about the deal, with many fans uncertain as to whether Forrester deserves a new contract in such a short space of time.

Forrester has just signed for Rangers from English League 1 team Doncaster on a free transfer.

Forrester himself has said he's looking forward to continuing his career at Rangers with such a talented group of players.

The Professor has made a statement stating that he "has no concerns over the deal and that Harry has everything he could possibly want here and i think he's got a great future with us."

Rangers stroll to success in the Professors managerial debut

Edinbrough City 0-4 Rangers (Kiernan (5), Halliday (20), King (34), Holt (45))

Youth was no match for experience as Rangers head to the capital playing on a hard and bouncy surface at Meadowbank Stadium as a young Edinbrough team succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of a much more experienced Rangers side.

Central defender Rob Kiernan got Rangers off to a flyer by scoring a close range header on 5 mins.

An error from Edinbrough's Gavin Cadden allowed central midfielder Andy Halliday to score a close range effort, King scored a deftly executed finish in the 34th minute to extend the lead further.

Attacking midfielder Jason Holt completed the rout with a tidy finish from 11 metres on 45 minutes.

Halliday makes return to Scottish Football

Rangers Andy Halliday had a debut to remember by scoring in Rangers convincing 4-0 victory over Edinbrough City.

Supporters had been keen to see what Halliday had to offer and will have undoubtedly be delighted that their new man made an instant impact.

The game was Halliday's first game back in Scottish football since departing Livingston in May 2010.

Rob Kiernan, Jason Holt, James Tavernier, Martyn Waghorn, Wes Foderingham and Michael O'Halloran also made their debuts for Rangers in the match, with Rob Kiernan and Jason Holt getting on the scoresheet.

Holt on form for Rangers

Jason Holt was the best player on the park this afternoon during Rangers convincing victory over Livingston.

Holt's pace and skill on the ball was a constant threat to Edinbrough's back line and the attacking midfielder thoroughly deserved his goal. Holt completed the rout on 45 minutes with a tidy finish from 11 metres. The threat the attacking midfielder caused with his passing ability constantly unsettled the opposition defence.

Holt is a new signing at Ibrox arriving from newly promoted Hearts in July.

Rangers draw Morton in Challenge Cup

Rangers will play Championship side Greenock Morton in the Challenge Cup 2nd Round.

The tie will be played at Morton's Cappielow Park on Tuesday 18th August.

The Alloa vs Rangers Championship match has been re-arranged for Saturday 15th August due to the clash with Rangers Challenge Cup tie with Morton.

Five-star Rangers triumph

Elgin City 1-5 Rangers

Rangers turned their possession into goals with a 5-1 win over Elgin City. A brace from Martyn Waghorn helped Rangers to victory.

Winger Billy King got Rangers off to a flyer by scoring a good finish from close range on 5 minutes. Advanced forward Waghorn doubled Rangers lead with a deftly executed finish from close range on 24 minutes.

Kiernan scored with a close range header in the 50th minute to extend the lead further. Veteran winger Kenny Miller then added to the lead with another fine header from point-blank range on 55 minutes.

Winger Daniel Moore pulled one back for Elgin City after 69 minutes with a tidy finish from 13 metres.

An error from Elgin's Kyle Macleod allowed Waghorn to score a well timed close range finish.

Thompson makes professional debut

It was a proud moment for Rangers and for Jordan Thompson (18) as the young central midfielder made his debut for the club as a 57th minute substitute in Rangers convincing 5-1 victory over Elgin City.

Watched by his family and given a rapturous ovation, it is sure to be a moment that he will never forget.

The Rangers new signing has already made it known in recent days that he is pleased to be part of the set up at Ibrox.

Miller is cream of the crop for Rangers

Kenny Miller was the best player on the park this afternoon during Rangers convincing 5-1 victory over Elgin, according to DailyRecord.co.uk.

Miller belied his increasing years with some delightful touches and capped his performance with a goal. Miller added to the scoreline with a fine header from point-blank range in the 55th minute. The threat the left winger posed with his passing ability constantly unsettled the opposition defence.

Rangers draw Raith in League Cup

Rangers will play Raith Rovers in the League Cup Second Round.

Raith have been drawn as the home team in the tie so the game will be played at Stark's Park on Tuesday 25th August.

Rangers and Raith actually played each other in the final of the League Cup back in 1949, with The Gers lifting the trophy on that occasion.
