Soooo I have decided to try and bring this story back! Honestly, I don't think i've enjoyed a story this much and the stopping of this story had really killed my interest in FM17.

However, I have decided to continue posting the updates I had written until the end of the 2016-17 season. Alongside this I have restarted this save and will simulate the game until the end of the 2016-17 season and start afresh from there. I am going to use the pre game editor to make sure that the transfers I made at Augsburg are replicated and will happen.

You will have to excuse a few continuity errors if there are any, and the Bundesliga table for the end of the season may not reflect the same results I achieved in the monthly reviews although I will make sure that Augsburg's end of season is the same (i.e, if we don't achieve Europe in the first season I will keep simulating the game until Augsburg achieve a position not in Europe, or avoiding relegation etc.)

Hopefully you can look past a few continuity errors if there are any, and enjoy the story and the content I have written because I am certain I will enjoy playing this save.

Merry Christmas,

Following on from their 3-1 defeat at the BayArena on Saturday, FCA Manager Dirk Schuster took time to reflect on defeat to the side placed 2nd in the Bundesliga at the moment, and give his thoughts on the immediate future at the club.

After being completely written off in the game against the team pushing Bayern Munchen the closest for the Bundesliga title this season, Augsburg came away with their heads held high from Leverkusen. After Charles Aranguiz was sent off in the 23rd minute of the game, Leverkusen’s dominance and ability seemed to dwindle and it was Schuster’s visiting Augsburg side that took the advantage. The goal though came just after half time as Kostas Stafylidis was able to head home from a well worked free kick. ”I thought we approached the game in the right way, so to go 1-0 ahead was a deserved reward for how well we had played up to that point.” Said the defeated Manager.

Augsburg though failed to capitalise on their advantage fully and when in the 62nd minute key man Gojko Kacar was sent off for a second yellow card, the game tipped in Leverkusen’s favour again. In the 68th minute Leverkusen were level as Julian Brandt scored a powerful effort before Wendell had headed the home side 2-1 ahead just three minutes later. The icing was put on the cake in the 81st minute as Jonathan Tah headed the home side into a 3-1 lead as Roger Schmidt’s side kept the pressure on Bayern. ”The sending off for us really was the turning point. Up to then we were in control. Maybe I was a bit naïve for keeping Gojko on as the game was getting a bit fiery, but at the end of the day you want your best 11 players on the pitch and he is one of ours.”

”We might have lost but this was a huge learning curve for us as we’ve not been in that position before and I know the team is disappointed.” Schuster then started to talk about the teams remaining games in December before being asked about his plans for the January transfer window. ”Obviously, we’ll be on our Winter Break, so it would be a good chance to bed in new players. There are a few people that I am looking at but I think it’s about emphasising the point that we’ll only spend the money when it’s necessary if the right player is available. He has to be able to fit our system and suit the squad and only then if he matches the other criteria too will we think about buying.”
