Founded in 2009, RasenBallsport Leipzig were created through the initiative of energy drink maker Red Bull after they purchased the playing right of fifth division side SSV Markranstadt.

The aim was to reach the Bundesliga within eight years, but the club managed it in seven. Profoundly considered one of the most hated clubs in Germany since their creation due to their money, the side come into their first season in the Bundesliga with a point to prove.

The side have no history, but that doesn't mean they can't create and mould their own.

Former Dinamo Kyiv midfielder Lukman Haruna has joined Red Bull Leipzig on a free transfer.

After joining the Ukrainian giants in 2011 for £1.3m, he made 53 appearances and scored just eight goals. During his time there he also spent time on loan with FC Goverla Uzhgorod, Anji Makhachkala and FK Astana.

The Nigerian centre-mid, who has appeared 10 times for his country is on a €6.25k a week contract for the next two years.
