i read some where that you can challenge the ref if so how do you do it?
Do you mean appealing against a decision so if some gets sent off you can appeal against the ban?
I have seen it available only in red cards, however, I have never won any appeal, as I never have valid grounds, and therefore the ban either stands as is, one game, or it may be extended to 2 or 3 games. I remember that I have only won once, but in cm 00/01 or cm 01/02, but after that the appeal is always dismissed.
I do not think that's fair, because in these cases the referee is biased towards the opponents... but that's the game. The other thing that is sometimes frustrating is that these cases (i.e. red cards, injuries) almost always happen before a derby or an important fixture, but that's the game, it makes the things a bit harder.

Has anyone on the site ever successfuly appealed?
Yes I have. It was a magical moment in my FM career. David Villa gets sent of in the 2nd minute. I appealed and the ban was overturned. Not much conselation though I scraped a 1-0 win to Almeria
cudi : ok someone please tell me how to appeal?
I think it's shows up as an option when you get the email notification. Within the email, you can choose to appeal the ban or not.
Giorgos : Never happened to me!
Im red hot on the appeals at the moment. Got two appeals right in the same match & both overturned, that has to be a record, but to be fair they both were not sending offs. One was a "handball" which is blatantly wasn't & the other deserved a yellow not a red. Still won, take that Bertolini :p (ref), he's sent 6 players of in my time at Zaragoza, won 3 appeals. It's 3-3 at the moment. :wink
I've never won an appeal, but once I had a goal disallowed for offside (I replayed it like 20 times and it was the definitely the wrong call) and I bitched the ref out in my post match press conference.
The FA apologized.
That's about it
