Decided to take on a herculean challenge to test my managerial prowess on FM.. Will update in big blocks due to time!

Edinburgh City play at a 5,000 seater stadium, with £9,000 in the bank, £100 wage budget remaining to play with, the worst squad in the league in the vast majority of stats.
This is however, the first season ever in the Scottish 2nd division after being promoted as the Highland/Lowland league championship and promotion playoff (with bottom club in LL2)

Board expectations are high: FInish Bottom.... Certain I can deliver that. Hopefully this gives me some leeway as well.

This is the initial line-up, sticking with what I know works from previous FM saves, i've gone with a short and wide pitch at home so we will try to use the wingers as much as we can. Loan signing Lewis Allan is our target man up front with a heading of 15. Our star player is CM Josh Walker and our only permanent signing was 18 year old winger Kelly, who was made due to his ability to play Left-Wing and slot straight into my system.

Now, it’s simple to see that the challenge is a wee bit bigger than I initially thought. Josh Walker was injured for 6 months after scoring our only two goals of the season (at the time). After the initial disappointment of not winning any of my first twelve games, the two back to back home wins came as a relief and make the table look much prettier than it did, being routed to the bottom by five points after 8 games is not fun!

A change of tactics ensued due to the lack of goals, we took a punt signing Derek Riordan the old striker with 50 odd SPL goals partners target man Allan up front. I did the old google search of what he's upto these days and turns out he singed for Edinburgh City in real life no less than two weeks ago and scoring a goal a game... a sign from above...

Decided to adopt a counter- attacking strategy at home and defensive away. At home we play much more direct and away we go for build- up play. The key that won us our two games was a change in Set Pieces, directing all attacking corners to the near post with CBs attacking and Riordan looking for a near post flick on, managed to score 3 goals that way. Signed a Rangers youngster as backup for CM on loan until Walker is back from injury.

All in all:
a baptism of fire, this will be an uphill struggle for sure but my minimum target is to maintain 8th place and it’d be nice if we push on a bit, although I’m not getting carried away. A little cup run wouldn’t go amiss either!
