Happy New Year and we hope all the Bhoys and Ghirls around the world had a great Christmas and New Years.

December was a very busy month as the club participated in nine matches from 3 December to 31 December. The key to the month was squad rotation due to the schedule and it seemed to work really well as the club did not lose a game all month long. There were several times this month we had to play teams twice and that was due to the Champions League messing with the schedule.

On 12 December the Hoops found out that they will be playing Paris Saint-Germain for the first time ever in the Round of 16. This is the first time we have been to the round since the 2012/13 season.

With 21 matches completed Celtic are leading the league with 55 points, 14 points in front of second place Hearts.

Brendan Rodgers pick up his second Manager of the Month award and Patrick Roberts wins his second Young Player of the Month award in a row.

A trip to Fir Park saw Celtic take on a struggling Motherwell. In this match Tom Rogic would be the key player as he scored two goals. Stuart Armstrong and Cristian Gamboa also collected goals.

Following Motherwell, Celtic would fly out to Greece to face Olympiacos in the final group stage day of the Champions League. This was important as it decided the fate of advancement. Luckily enough a draw would be enough as Porto pulled off an upset over Leicester City. The only goal was scored by Leigh Griffiths in the seventy-eighth minute. Celtic almost had three points but Olympiacos tied the game up with the clock winding down.

The match against Patrick Thistle was one that was not expected. The Jags put up a good fight and scored ending our streak of shutouts. It was Logan Bailiey's season debut in goal so Gordon's personal Premiership streak is still on. Goals were then scored by Leigh Griffiths and Tom Rogic. There was another debut as American Tyler Turner made his senior team debut coming in as a sub in the seventy-sixth minute.

The middle of the month saw the Bhoys return home for a three game home stand. It was an excellent day as Celtic cruse past the Accies by a 4-0 score. Patrick Roberts would score the opener in the twenty-seventh minute and Leigh Griffiths scored his third straight in the closing seconds of the day.

Next up was Dundee in a 2-0 victory Celtic played strong as goals were scored by Tom Rogic and Scott Sinclair who scored a penalty. We apologize for an error in the score as it should be two and not four.

The final match against Partick in 2016 was also the last match in the three game home stand. It was another easy victory as the Celts win by a score of 3-0. The usual suspects of Stuart Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair scored. This was a much better result as the Jags mascot Kingsley was nowhere to be seen.

It was a Christmas Eve match in Hamilton as Celtic won with a 3-0 victory. This match was Tyler Turner's first start with the senior team and he did very well covering defensively. For the second time this month Leigh Griffiths and Tom Rogic would score in the same game. The other goal was an own goal by an Accie.

The final match of the year at Celtic park saw a very boring and uninspiring scoreless draw against Ross County. You could tell that it had been a long month for Celtic and that most of the stars were being rested for the upcoming Old Firm Derby.

It was a New Years Eve clash as Ibrox as Celtic dominated their Old Firm Rivals by a score of 2-0. Once again Celtic overran their cross town rivals and made it look easy. Moussa Dembele kickoff the match scoring in the twenty-third minute. Tom Rogic would also score his fourth goal of December.

Craig Gordon picks up his second Dafabet Player of the Month award. Starting eight of nine matches he would only concede one goal and that was in the Champions League. In Premiership play Gordon continued his cleansheet streak to thirteen games without allowing a goal.

January will be a fairly short month as the winter break takes place between 1-20 January. Celtic will only have two matches in the month. The first will be in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round as we travel to face Hamilton on the 21st. The month then ends with the first Premiership clash of the year against Hearts at Celtic Park on the 28th. The transfer window is open this month as well. Stay tuned to see player movement.

It'll certainly be a relief for you to have just two months in the upcoming month! Your players can now have some deserved rest time to freshen up ahead of some important Champions League fixtures in the coming months!

Coming out of a very long month with your unbeaten record still in tact is impressive. Keep it up and make sure you end the season with it

Celtic have signed Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer and will join in July

The transfer will go through in July 2017, when Sebastian's contract at Sunderland runs out. This is the first transfer of the next season as Brendan Rodgers has said there would be no additions to the current squad.

Larsson has played only made 10 appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League so far this season, having scored only in the EFL Cup.

The 31 year old will be a massive asset for Brendan Rodgers as he is seen as a set-piece expert, which is invaluable in modern day football. Also he will be a massive boost in being a role model for younger players including Kristoffer Ajer who is seen as a future replacement for Scott Brown.

"I am very pleased to make my next move in my career with Celtic, they are a massive club with great history and I can't wait to play for Brendan (Rodgers)," said Larsson when he broke the news on his Instagram earlier in the day.


The move is a sign of positives as the 31 one year old has expressed his displeasure with the lack of playing time for the Black Cats. Currently his side is in 15th place and are going on a downward slope.

Back in early November he announced that he was not renewing his contract and wanted to be put up for a transfer. Celtic would ultimately come in a month later and get him on a free.

It looks like Seb will become the next Swede to waer the number 7, previously the honour was held by Freddie Ljungberg and Henrik Larsson. The later is not related but if Sebastian does wear the number 7 he will have a lot to live up for.

Celtic FC have completed the signing of Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Steele, who will be joining after the current season ends.

Steele has signed a three year deal after Celtic agreed an undisclosed fee with Blackburn.

The 26-year-old is highly thought of and won seven England Under 21 caps

For Steele this will be an interesting move as he will be leaving a club that are in 21st place. The former Middlesbrough talent was once seen as one of the next great English goalkeepers but his career has went a diffrent direction.

He is lucky that he will be joining Celtic who are lead by Brendan Rodgers, who is well known for turning players careers around.

Steele will most likely replace either Doris de Vries or Logan Bailiey and will be a back up for Craig Gordon for a year or two before possibly becoming a starter.

A move to Scotland should be a boost for his career and hopefully it turns around for the better.

Two fantastic signings for Celtic FC! Hopefully Larsson will have a similar impact to his namesake, while Jason Steele has a bright future in football!

Two very good signings there, both will boost your squad a massive amount and give you a lot of strength going into next season!

Celtic eased into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 4-2 victory over fellow Premiership side Hamilton Academical at the SuperSeal Stadium in Hamilton.

An own goal by Hamilton's Grant Gillespie opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an embarrassing mistake to dampen the prospect of an upset.


A few minutes later Patrick Roberts would widen the gap with his first goal of the match on 15 minutes. A minute later he would score his second of the afternoon. Finally in the 67th minute he would score the goal that would give him a hat-trick, to secure the win and ensure Brendan Rodgers' side remain unbeaten domestically this season..

For the home side it was a valiant effort effort as the Accies would keep Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon as he allowed two goals for the first time in fifteen domestic matches.

Forward Eamonn Brophy pulled one back after 48 minutes with a tidy finish into the bottom left corner from 17 yards out. The final goal for Hamilton was scored in the 79th minute as Dougie Imrie scored a header.

For Celtic they will now move on to the fifth round where they will be facing St. Johnstone on 11 February at Celtic Park. The two will face each other a week earlier in Perth. The Saints beat Queen Of The South by a score of 2-1 to secure the tie with Celtic.
