
Liverpool Gear Up For First Games In Style







After Numerous signings in the summer Liverpool fans now have a pre-season to look back on as the Reds finished up today with a 1-0 win against Greek side Iraklis Thessaloniki (Me neither)
The pre-season friendlies initially began with Singaporeans Albirex, Divock Origi netting a brace before Albirex's only goal of the game scored by Konno in the 70th minute. Confidence for youngsters Woodburn and Trent-Arnold would be sure to increase.
The second game was very hit and miss, 2 goals again for the Liverpudlians but that wasn't enough to fend off Iraklis' league rivals Panathinaikos who were leading the game 2-1 until a goal mouth scramble saw the ball deflect in off of Trifylli player Spathis.
Entering what would be the middle of this cluster of games and obviously the business end facing up to Lille, Roma, and A.C. Milan - Liverpool had it all to do in the next three games.
With no offence to Lille, the Smallest of the three opponents had nothing on Klopp's men losing to a 3-0 deficit. By completely rolling over they allowed 3 players to score. Sturridge, Lallana, and most notably Ojo right at the end. One to savor for the left winger.
Once again making no match for Liverpool, Roma were taken a part in a stunning display of 90 minutes. A master class from Origi in the first half with his second brace of pre season gave Henderson and Sturridge the confidence to bag their team 2 more. Unable to keep them out all game though, Roma slotted home for the consolation on 80 minutes. Shaarawy with the only goal.
Roma's long term rivals Milan however would prove to be a whole different kettle of fish. No way in at the until the break for Liverpool things were not looking good with A.C. firmly in control and 1-0 up after a Romagnoli header.
But savior cometh and the little magician Coutinho pulled some Brazilian trickery right out of the top bag taking on Gustavo Gomes and blasting it home for the equalizer. The game would end 1-1.
A solid pre-season for Liverpool who take on Swansea in the first Premier league game of the season, can they get off to a good start?
