Kristensen Sidelined For Nine Months
Rasmus Nissen Kristensen Damaged Cruciate Ligaments In His Knee
16/12/2027
Whitehawk defender Rasmus Nissen Kristensen was diagnosed with damaged cruciate ligaments following a heavy challenge in yesterday's FIFA Club World Cup semi final clash against ES Tunis. The Danish full back is expected to be sidelined for the next nine months as he looks to recover from this devastating injury.
Kristensen was stretchered off the field of play in only the third minute of action following a heavy challenge from ES Tunis' Yassine Gabsi. The thirty year old Danish international, and vice captain of Whitehawk, was the skipper for the day, but his game was brought to a premature end. It was Kristensen's 12th appearance of the season, and would turn it to be his last.
Rasmus will require two surgical operations in the coming months to repair the damage. A long rehabilitation process will follow in order for him to regain full functionality in his knee, and the strength to use it. This would mean the end of Kristensen's season, with him expected to return to football in September 2028.
Kristensen signed for Whitehawk in a £1,700,000 move from Southampton in 2022. The Danish full back has since gone on to make 164 appearances for the English powerhouse in five and a half seasons. He has been very much a rotational player in recent seasons, but has always performed when called upon.
The nine month lay off will mean Whitehawk would need to consider bringing in a right back to cover Erkan Aktaş for the remainder of the season. With Kristensen now 30 years old, any replacement is likely to be a long term one, with the injury certainly accelerating his physical decline.
Whitehawk have not yet made a bid for any right back, and are unlikely to until the transfer window opens in January. The English champions have been linked with a move for Frankfurt defender Julian Abel, while Dinamo Moscow's Alexey Gladilin has also had his name mentioned by a number of media outlets.

mgriffin2012, yeah they'll be tough but my first team are fully rested so Tigres shouldn't be a problem! Atlético, on the other hand, will be a handful!ScottT, we'll see
