My name is Stephen Beck. I am 39 years old and a ex professional footballer. I played for St Helens Town AFC and I also played for OLdham Athletic and Sunderland AFC. My playing days have come to an end a few years ago. When I hung my boots up I took up coaching and I recently finished my qualifications. I am looking for a club to manage. My agent Sam Maddox has been looking round for a team.

With my experience being very good and I can also speak French, German and Spanish. I can look abroad for jobs. Sam was sitting in my home office on the phone. I knew something was going on because he kept looking my way, Sam was a hard faced agent. His body was moving so much. After he finished he came out.

Sam said" Are you busy Tomorrow"

I repiled " No why"

Sam said" You have a interview at Bolton Wanderers for the vacancy of manager "

I lept around like a little schoolboy with excitement, a chance to be manager.

Day of the interview because I live in Sunderland it is a three and half hour journey. So I stopped in a Manchester Hotel. Started a 30 minute drive to Bolton. I am nervous and shaking but readdy for the interview.

I arrived in time for my interview. Ken Anderson's secretary came out and greeted me and took me inside. "Mr Anderson will be with you shortly" she said.

I was greeted by Mr Anderson, we knew each other when I was playing at Oldham. They tried to sign me but Sunderland AFC beat them to my signature.

Mr Anderson " Hi Stephen. A long time since we last saw each other. I want you to be our manager " he asked nicely.

I replied " I would love to be"

Mr Anderson said " Unfortunately we haven't any money for transfers, will it be a problem"

I thought long and hard and replied" No problem at all"

After a while I signed a two year deal but I have to try for promotion this season.

I am thrilled about the job. Now the hard job comes.

Now the manager of Bolton Wanderers I have a big task in hand. Bolton want promotion in this season. I have too spend money and buy extra help or Big Star players.

After looking at my free agents list a few names came to me.

Dimitar Berbatov the Manchester United player but I knew I have no chance and he would want big money.

Emile Heskey signed for a season and a few to signing a extra one year at any time.

Michael Essien ex Chelsea player. He signed for two years due to me offering him first team football and making him a key player

The Biggest signing Didier Drogba has decided to play for us for two years.

Signing are what is needed our injury problems are bad.

Max Clayton is out for 9 months. Knee Tendonitis

Mark Davies is out for 16 months Cruciate Ligament

PRE SEASON RESULTS

As you can tell my pre season results where terrible. Drogba has a injury which he will be out for a week and he might not make the Sky Bet League one match against Sheffield United. David Wheater looks set to be captain for the match.

Emile Heskey was going to sign with us but at the last minute he decided to join Bristol City. So back to the drawing board and look at players who are transfer listed.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was the name my scouts came up with. I phoned Ian Holloway at Queen's Park Rangers and enquired about Jay.

After a brief chat with Holloway. I asked Jay if he would like to come and join Bolton. He was very unsure but I have made him a very good offer.

QPR accepted my bid £200.00

Jay accepted my contract offer and the deal was done.

Jay will be playing as a Striker/Winger

Jay had his medical and we got talking.

Jay said" Boss why did you never play in a world Cup for England"

I replied very unhappy " I was playing at Sunderland and somebody came in with a tackle which ended my career early"

I also told him" I did play against Italy in the Euro's "

After a bit of chatting it was time to go and meet the team with him.

Drogba was waiting at the door" Afternoon Boss" he said

"Good Afternoon, This is Jay and he has just joined us, please help him to settle in"

I am looking at my tactics and I may play 4-4-2 against Sheffield United

Transfer for Gary Madine from Dundee United. Selling him because he doesn't feature in my plans.

Our team is on a rebuild. We sold Gary Madine for £200.00. Whilst we have money, we need quality and I believe we may have another star player soon. I need more players.

1. Left Back

2. One more Striker.

3. An extra midfielder.

After a bad pre season. We had to change around a few players and we also named Didier Drogba Captain.

First league game is soon approaching and training is hard.

The next day and it is our first league game against Sheffield United.

I was interviewed by Sky Sports today by Greg Whelan.

Greg said" Stephen nice too meet you. How do you feel about your first game in charge".

I replied " I am very excited and we are very confident" (I WAS LYING).

I wasn't going to go on live television and say we are going to lose.

Greg asked " How has Didier Drogba been "

I asked curiously" Been"

Greg said " With him being a star and Bolton being in League one"

I replied with the truth " Didier is a professional and he knows what a task Bolton is but I have placed him as captain and he trusts me "

Greg " Just one more thing, can you tell us who your new player is "

I replied " Sorry no. I am bringing a new player in soon. The deal is still being done. As soon as it is everyone will get a shock"

Interview over and I went into the dressing room.

Bramall Lane was packed. All fans where cheering as the team names where introduced.

Bolton Wanderers

1. Gabor Kiraly

2. Lewis Buxton

3. Mark Beevers

4. David Wheater

5. Dean Moxey

6. Michael Essien

7. Darren Pratley

8 . Filipe Morais

9. Kyle Lafferty

10. Didier Drogba (C)

11. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas

Kick off

The game finished 2-1 Sheffield United. We took the lead and they blew us away afterwards.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored but got injured and looks like it is a bruised leg.

After the game I locked the door and shouted at them. Hopefully it works.
