Hello FM Scouters

I am in need of some in game advice from the skilled and experienced FM players.

I'm still playing my first save since November and I'm in pre season for 2030/2031 season. I've had more clubs than Tiger Woods but decided to return to QPR in 2028 season. After losing in the play offs twice I finally got promoted despite having one of the poorest teams in the championship.

The clubs finances are in the red so I wasn't able to keep my best players at the end of the season. Now I'm embarking on a Premier League season with a squad of youthful prospects and 3 veterans who are bottom championship level.

I have no transfer budget or wage budget. How do I keep this club in the Prem against all odds? Or how do I get the board to invest or sell? Never experienced this in FM before.

On the contrast I have just been appointed England manager but also staying on at QPR.

Any advice welcome.
Fortunately, one season in the Premier League in this day and age will give your finances a serious boost, even if you do suffer relegation at the end of it. If you cannot bring in players of Premier League quality, the sad reality is that a lot of luck would be required to stay up.

The way I see it, there's only one thing you really can do. You need to find a way to grind out results and get points on the board, whether that be one point per game, or three. Try to find a way to shut down the opposition and make sure your defence isn't leaking goals. If you can maintain a strong defensive record, the points will come. Worry about your attack only when you have your defence sorted.

You should also keep in mind that a lot of players will be loan listed as the season goes on, so keep your eyes open for any free loan deals you can get to help your squad strength.

If you do stay up in the end, that's absolutely fantastic and your club should then be in a financial position where you can afford to bring in a few players of the desired quality. Then you can continue your building process from there.

If you go down, I'd stay patient. You'll have a year of Premier League revenue behind you which will help build a very solid base for the future. Don't go splashing the cash in the Championship, as you won't have the income in that league to support the spending, but make sure you have enough quality to go back up ASAP. Then, once you have Premier League revenue again, get spending.
Thank you for your reply, great advice. I've changed my tactics to defensive and counter attacking which I hope will help.

I kept checking the board request under finance and two weeks into the season I was allowed to ask for wage increase for players. They denied my request then had the option to leak to the press and the board did a u turn and I've got 200k wages to play with. Not much quality available for free by now but I'm able to sign some experience to the squad
