Carlo Ancelotti Press Conference: Chelsea Manager first meeting with press

Carlo Ancelotti was unveiled in front of the press as the new Chelsea Head Coach this morning. Ancelotti signed with Chelsea on a 1 year contract. Ancelotti had his first interview with the media as the Blues' Head Coach since his return.
Here are some of the talking points.

Q; Do you feel that your ambitions are matched by the Board?
Ancelotti: Yes, I do. We had good discussions and those discussions were very creative and lot of good ideas floated which promised huge things for this club.

Q; What is your expectations for this season?
Ancelotti: We are aiming for the same reason last year with further sucess in Europe. We are ambitious this season and hope to defend the title this year. We have the very quality side to challenge other teams, excellent training facilities and huge budget. Overall, I believe Chelsea is the team that can defend their titles better than any other premier league side.

Q: You stand here today unveiled as the new Chelsea manager. This is your second coming. You are already considered a hug favorite among the Chelsea fans. How does it feel?
Ancelotti: It is a very special day for me. I am very happy to be here. It has changed a lot since the last time I was here as the manager. I know, I have big shoes to fill in but I know that the Board has put their trust in me and I will do everything to deliver success to this club.

Ancelotti has already won premier league with Chelsea

Q: Last question, will there be changes in the staff and squad?
Ancelotti:I think the staff here is excellent and so are the players. But I have not yet evaluated the squad and their demands. There might be some players leaving and some getting in but I am not totally sure. Thank you.

Andrea Balotti is on the verge of signing for Chelsea

Breaking News: Andrea Belotti signs for Chelsea for £45M

Chelsea have completed the £45m signing of Italian striker Andrea Belotti from FC Torino on a four-year deal.

The Italian international, 23, joined Torino from Palmero for £6m and scored 38 goals in 70 league appearances in 2 years.

This is the first official signing of Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti. Chelsea have also signed Morata earlier and Ancelotti hoping to rotate both young strikers so as to maintain the proper balance.

PRE SEASON 2017

Chelsea had a decent pre season. The Blues managed to get good results against Dortmund, NYFC and New York but failed to deliver anything against Hamburg, A.C Milan, DC United and Philadelphia.

Chelsea's new signing Morata showed few sparks but was not able to convert any of his chances into goals. Chelsea's lack of converting chances in the third half of the game resulted in 4 draws out of 7 with three matches finishing with no goals on either sides. Andrea Belotti was not a part of the pre season due to being not fit enough. Ancelotti must be hoping that with the start of the season, Belotti is fit and ready.

Ancelotti must be working towards getting the chances converted more than they witnessed in pre season. The defense looked strong but the issue was in the attacking area.
Authors Note:
A whole evaluation of the squad has been done by Ancelotti and the staff. It will posted soon. Stay tuned.
A very strong pre-season defensively but not the best going forward, hopefully that will improve in time!

CHELSEA FC: SQUAD OVERVIEW

A complete evaluation of the team by the manager Carlo Ancelotti himself, before the start of the new season. This report, compiled by Ancelotti and his staff, will assist greatly for his side's upcoming league campaign.

TACTICS

Chelsea will play with this 4-1-2-3 formation as I believe this is the best suited formation of Chelsea's squad. The striker inconsistency was solved by my Assistant manager in the name of Alvaro Morata. Now, Chelsea DOF and me have added further firepower by signing Andrea Belotii. Batshuayi is already in the plans. Rotating these three players would do just fine. Morata remains my main striker.

Alonso and Pedro impressed me a lot in the pre-seasons. I would be using pedro a lot for rotation in my winger positions (right/left). Though my main three attacking midfielders remain the same: Hazard (LW), Morata (ST) and Willian (RW). Willian and Hazard both are currently injured so I have to make use of Pedro and Moses and Kenedy for the starting fixtures.

Chelsea have very strong central midfielders in the names of Fabregas, Kante, Bakayko and Drinkwater. So using a 3 midfield diamond formation gives me a better chance at using these talents to their full use and keep Chelsea strong in the midfield as well as in the defense department.

The back line returns from three defenders to four: Alonso (LB), Cahill (CB), Luiz (CB) and Azpilicueta (RB). Chelsea new singing this summer - Rudiger and the returning youth prospect Christensen are available for a perfect rotation in the center back positions with Zappacosta ready to rumble in the full back department.

Unless I sign any other player, this is my final evaluation.

I was pretty disappointed with our finishing as well. The worrying part was we were not good enough in attacking to score against such small teams. I am tweaking the tactics and applying some training too. Lets hope the season does not go this way.
Fingers crossed.

COMMUNITY SHIELD

Carlo Ancelotti had his campaign debut as Chelsea manager in the Community Shield competition against rivals Arsenal. It was a dissapointing start to the campaign with Chelsea getting beaten by Arsenal with the score 3-2 to Arsenal. This was not the ideal start for Ancelotti and his Blue boys. Chelsea never looked liked the team that had won the PL title 2 months ago. Defensively we were extremely poor but attackingly we were not that good. Victor Moses had a disasterous game giving a penalty and scoring an Arsenal winning own goal.

Arsenal 3 - 2 Chelsea
Danny Drinkwater (42)
Michy Batshuayi (81)
Victor Moses (84)

Arsenal beats Chelsea to win FA Community Shield

Arsenal wins FA Community Shield 2017 in style by beating Chelsea 3-2

Chelsea faced Arsenal for the community shield but were run-ragged by Koscielny and his team-mates. It was the not the start Ancelotti and his boys hoped for. Chelsea and Arsenal were equal on paper and everybody thought that Chelsea would be the winners but the outcome denied the predictions.

Arsenal dominated the premier league Champions like never before. Just 30 mins gone, Coquelin struck the chords with a beautiful finish and Arsenal were already up by one goal to nil. Chelsea started to work better after going one nil down with new summer signing Danny Drinkwater opened his account on his debut to score a brilliant goal and bring the game back to 1-1. Next 25 minutes were most competitive where both teams were creating chances but not securing a goal. It looked like a draw when Victor Moses made a blunder in the penalty box and give Arsenal a penalty which was calmy stroked home by Arsenal wonder kid Reiss Nelson.

It all looked like Chelsea were down and out when Batshuayi provided some breathing space for Chelsea when he scored with a tap in. Chelsea pushed up the tempo and started attacking more furiously than they did in the first half. This resulted in a quick counter attack by Arsenal. A quick lob from Alexis to chelsea's box which was then unfortunately put behind by Victor Moses, scoring an own goal and giving Arsenal their Community Shield win.

Ex-chelsea player Petr Cech even denied a fabulous chance and it was confirmed that Chelsea are about to face a huge nightmare at the hands of Arsenal.

Wenger and his boys deserved the victory and it was a moment to witness as Arsenal looked way more competitive than The Blues.

Ancelotti was utterly disappointed said in his post-match conference "We were very bad out there. I never expected this to happen. The defense was out of place and the strikers did not produce many efforts. But we are not heartbroken. We gave Arsenal a battle but they played overcame our attack and deserved to win."

Final Score:
Arsenal 3
Chelsea 2
Unlucky to lose the first competitive game but the league will be where it really matters!

AUGUST 2017

After an embarrassing defeat in the FA community shield, Ancelotti’s boys had demanding fixtures ahead of them. Chelsea had to face Manchester City, Spurs and Arsenal in the first month of August. It was a difficult test for Ancelotti and Chelsea at the start of the season. Chelsea continued their winless streak with an humiliating loss at the hands of City. Sane proved to be unstopabble as he scored an hattrick to get his team a brilliant start to the season. Ancelotti put an end to that and came back roaring with a 2-1 win against spurs and a spectacular comeback win against Arsenal. It might not be the start that Acelotti wanted but looking at the fixtures, it might as well be the best start he could have got.

MANAGER'S THOUGHT

It was not a shining start that I wanted but we had to deal with it. After the loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield, I had to make some changes. What made our work difficult was the injury to willian in the training ground which left us with no first time wingers with hazard also being on the shelf. And it proved to be back breaking as we were decimated by City. The difficulty in the defense continued from the game with Arsenal but because Willian was injured, kenedy or moses were not able to create as many chances possible.

Luckily, Willian was fit for the second game of the season where we hosted Spurs and defeated them thanks to the two goals by world class playmaker Fabregas. Chelsea looked a completely different team from the ones that lost to Arsenal and City.

But by far the biggest challenge was Arsenal who we faced again in a 7 days span. It was the Emirates and with a win over us, they had all the momentum. They started with a bag scoring 2 goals in quick successions but finally, our attack started to click and our first team big signing Morata proved to be the match winner when he scored the late 94 minute winner to give us the win. Pedro managed to get his brace as well as willian getting the assist for 2 out of 4 goals. It was an attacking masterclass which kept us afloat and kept us in the title contention with 6 points in 3 games where the three games were against the City, Spurs and Arsenal.

It could have gone completely wayward but my trust in the squad and their effort to get back to the top made us beat two of our title challengers.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Pedro
It was very difficult to select only one as winning both matches against spurs and Arsenal proved that it was the whole team that deserved to be awarded but due to defensive blunders in all three matches, defense was the weakest link. Looking at the forwards, it was Pedro that was awared the player of the month ahead of Fabregas and Morata.

Pedro was equally influential in the match against spurs. He might not have a goal or an assist to his name in that match but getting a pass rate of 80% and 7 key passes, he proved to be force to reckon with. He rounded off his good start with a brilliant continuation scoring a brace as well as an assist to give Chelsea a memorable win against Arsenal. Pedro was one of the players due to whom Chelsea managed to get out of the death fixtures with 6 points.
That's an incredibly difficult start to the season there but six points from nine is certainly nothing to be frowned at!
Scott is right that is a ridiculously tough start to the season, to get two wins from it though is a very good return!

Fixtures of death you could call it. But managing to get out of that month with 6 points of 9 when it easily could have been 0 points is truly a magnificent effort. Just hoping that september gets us going really good for the title.
