Upcoming change of site engine

I'll be adding posts to this topic as I'll be progressing with the migration to a new site engine. The current one has had its core super-hacked and while it has served us well all those years, it's time for a change. The migration process will be a real pain, and I'm hoping to complete the task before summer.

If you are a programmer and have experience with various CMS, feel free to make your suggestions regarding which CMS to migrate to. I'm currently thinking about Cotonti.

what about e107?

I've used e107 in the past for a couple of sites. I don't like the way it handles plugins, the link generation and the admin panel. It's not bad, but I'd prefer Drupal or WordPress over it anytime.

The decision is final regarding the choice of site engine.
Hoping to start the migration process asap, but it can take a month or two.
