Just me chatting about how I am trying to get Salford City to the Premiership
FM18 Salford City Journey
Hello fellow FM Managers. I decided to start my save off as Salford City this time round to see if I can get them from the Vanarama National League North to up to the Premiership (big ask I know haha).
Currently I am sitting at the top of the league just over half way through with a very strong first 23 games - W 19, D 1, L 3. My first two losses were near the start of the season while my team were getting used to my formation which I will show you later. The team are storming through at the moment with a 11 point gap already (should have made it 14 points but narrowly lost 4-3 away from home to FC United).

As you can see, the team have been smashing in the goals with 68 (Top in league) in total so far and conceding 27 (4th in league). Jack Redshaw has been quality for me with 17 goals in the league in 19 appearances, but he is now injured for 3 months and 1 month has gone by on that so far and luckily Mike Phenix has been awesome in the time to cover the goals.

As you can see my squad morale is very high even with a recent derby loss to FC United.

Some of the key signings worth a mention are Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Jack Bradley and Sam Evans. All of these strengthened my side and especially my recent signing Sam Evans has made an immediate impact with the side going straight to my highest average rated player. You don't really need to sign too many other players into this Salford team yet however I will be looking to add next season with my promotion up to the league above.

Current competitions I am in is only playing to win the league after being knocked out by Yeovil 3-2 in the FA Cup 1st round where I played a little too defensive and got my 2 goals in the 60th and 65th minutes when I started to throw the kitchen sink at them (missed a penalty to get 3-3 and I believe this is one I could have won). I also lost in the FA Trophy due to a 1-1 draw at home which went to a reply with Hartlepool winning 2-0.

How did I get these results you ask...let me show you my tactics which are really working for me at the minute with some massive results such as 4-1 Chorley (twice), 6-2 Kidderminster, 5-0 Curzon, 4-0 Brackley, 6-0 Deeping Rangers, 5-2 Bradford.
The formation I have been getting this great success with is 5-2-3 which gives me 3 AFs, 2 CMs (one with support function and another with attacking), 2 WB Supports (great for attacking down the line and whipping the ball across) and 3 BPDs. I have also got an image below of the Team Instructions I am using which again play a huge part - I don't really change this much; sometimes away from home I may change to a Counter attack if I feel they are attacking heavily and so far it is working. I do need to sign two more wing backs and I will sell about 4 players in the summer to get these as my finances need to improve so I can grow the club.

In summary, first half of the season is going great - the board love me at the moment and so do the team. Try out my formation tactics and let me know how you are getting on but also if you have any awesome tips on anything regarding players to look for or staff let me know and I shall give it a blast. I will let you know how I get on at the end of the season and then talk about my pre season plans for next year.

Cheers for reading
