The Toon have enjoyed a fantastic season under Nolan to say the least. If you can keep the wins coming, you could end up with Europa League football for next season. Fingers crossed!

A real heart-breaker of a month there, hopefully the team will bounce back and recover before the end of the season. I may have cursed you with my previous comment. :(

Haha I was thinking that! But in all honesty I just wanted a good solid start this season so I'd be happy with top 10.

Newcastle "in a very strong position" says Nolan

"I'm really proud of how the lads have performed this season," Kevin Nolan said following Newcastle's come-back draw at Crystal Palace, which saw the Magpies hit 48 points, one point behind the 2013-14 season total. One more win would make this season their best since 2011-12.

"We are playing with confidence. We are in a very strong position considering some of the challenges we have faced and we are determined to secure a place in the top half," Nolan continued. "We are already making plans for next season, but not without keeping a real focus on our last two matches."

Newcastle will play Leicester at the King Power Stadium next weekend, before facing Manchester United at home in the final fixture of the season.

Newcastle finish 9th in title-race shutdown

Going in to the final game of the season the title-race all seemed to come down to Newcastle, as they would face current leaders Manchester United (residing on 82 points,) as Manchester City (81 points) faced Arsenal. The Toon did their part, successfully securing a 1-0 win, but City failed to capitalize and lost at the Emirates, meaning Manchester United secured the trophy regardless.

Newcastle went in to the game only a point ahead of 10th placed Watford, who failed to win, meaning Newcastle finished the season in 9th, their highest league finish since their remarkable 5th place finish in the 2011/12 season under Alan Pardew.

Fans and pundits have commended Kevin Nolan's performance this season as Newcastle manager. Despite failing to obtain any awards, it is generally accepted that he over-performed, as a top-half finish was not initially expected for the club.

Final League Standings

1st: Manchester United (82 points, Champions)
2nd: Manchester City (81 points)
3rd: Chelsea (77 points)
4th: Arsenal (73 points)
5th: Liverpool (73 points)

6th: Tottenham (64 points)
7th: Southampton (58 points)
8th: Bournemouth (54 points)
9th: Newcastle (52 points)
10th: Watford (48 points)
11th: Leicester (46 points)
12th: Huddersfield (44 points)
13th: West Ham (43 points)
14th: Burnley (39 points)
15th: Everton (39 points)
16th: Swansea (38 points)
17th: Stoke (37 points)
18th: West Brom (34 points, relegated)
19th: Brighton (34 points, relegated)
20th: Crystal Palace (26 points, relegated)

Fantastic way to close the season and a great league position to match, considering Newcastle have only just returned to the top flight. I'll be interested to see what the business over the course of the Summer looks like.

Doing really well to be in the hunt for Europe mate, Newcastle is always one of those team you wanna manage and bring success to a team that has all the infrastructure and capability to fight for a top club billing in fm but just hasn't done it in real life so good luck.
