Season 2020/2021: Pre-Season
An Overview Of Oxford City In Pre-Season 2020
Ryan Ferguson:
"We had entered the EFL and had become a professional team for the first time in the club's history. The future was bright and we were hoping to make a real statement in the top four divisions of English football."

Discussion
I was moderately happy with these transfers. We were unable to find defenders of sufficient quality. Nyaupembe was brought in on loan as a temporary solution, while Whatley could deputise at full back. James was nothing more than a backup option.
The most exciting signings were the final three. Jack Bearne was a former Liverpool youth who had briefly worked under Ryan Ferguson at youth level. He was an exciting pacey attacker with good dribbling and finishing ability, capable of playing in any attacking position. Lubala, a Congolese-English winger, joined after being released from Birmingham and was expected to be a key player. Grant Smith was a significant upgrade on current goalkeeping options.

Oxford City Faced A Difficult Pre-Season
We played against big teams throughout pre-season to prepare us for the rigours of professional football. We lost three, drew one and won one against five very good teams. Overall, I was happy. The games we lost were difficult ones.

Oxford City Will Begin Life In The EFL At Home To Oldham
As per usual, I'll update on the first three months at once. This'll show a good indication of our credentials for the season. While we had gaps in our defensive options, I was confident that the attacking players we had would be enough for us to prove to be a big threat this year.
