The quality is mixed within this side, but that is always to be expected from a newly promoted side. Your midfield is certainly the strongest part of your squad and will be key in any success earned this season.

Discussion

Two major signings in recent months. In came midfielders Tilsson and James. They added invaluable experience and leadership qualities. Tilsson came in to supplement our defensive midfield options, while James came in to be a star player (of sorts) in our midfield. He was brought in to be the playmaker.

Results

Oxford City Proved To Be The Real Deal Early On In The Season

I would say that the season has been very positive so far. We lost just one league game in the three months, scoring a reasonable number of goals in the process. We weren't very consistent at times but we seemed to be able to get results when performances were going against us.

We crashed out of the EFL Cup immediately at the hands of Doncaster. We weren't ready for the intensity of the game and we were completely outclassed. We were much better in the two EFL Trophy fixtures as we won against Crystal Palace U23s in stoppage time before comfortably brushing Swindon Town aside.

Player of the Month

Ryan Longman Was Oxford City's Star Player During August - October 2020

Ryan Longman demonstrated incredible improvements this season to become a very important players for us in attack. Operating on the left, Longman scored seven and assisted two more in just fourteen games. Phenomenal, that.

Oxford City Were Top Of The Table After 18 Games

Miraculously, we made it to the top of the table. Our results were good but I had expected other teams to be earning far more points than us. Oh well, I cannot complain.

Finances

Oxford City's Finances Had Taken A Hit

The previous stadium expansions and facility upgrades had seen our balance decimated. The increased running costs were also getting to us. We had not yet built a foundation where our turnover could support us so we were struggling. We knew that cup runs and players sales would be required to keep us afloat over the next two or three seasons as we aclimatised to the EFL.

Oxford City Will Play Two Cup Games In November

Bromley awaited us in the FA Cup. We knew all about them and we were looking forward to destroying them. We had one more EFL Trophy Group Stage game, against Plymouth. It was effectively a dead rubber game as we were guaranteed passage to the next round anyway. Three league games also awaited us.
