Swansea clinch Sky Bet Championship title

Swansea players celebrate their winning goal

Swansea City have been crowned Sky Bet Championship champions following their 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers on the final day.

The Welsh side had already secured promotion following their 0-0 draw with Hull last time out, however the title was still up for grabs between themselves and Middlesbrough. With just one point in it, Swansea had to simply better or match Boro's result to secure the title.

Tony Pulis' side were held, regardless, on the final day in a 3-3 draw with Rotherham United - which confirmed the Millers relegation back to League One next season, as Hull thumped Bristol City 4-0 at the KCOM Stadium to survive.

The Swans came into the game having not won any of their last five games, however took the lead within the opening 15 minutes. Kosovan midfielder Bersant Celina scored his seventh goal of the season with a simple finish from inside the six-yard box.

Leon Britton's side would face the entirety of the second half with just ten men, as Tom Carroll was handed a straight red card for a rash tackle on veteran striker Matt Derbyshire in first-half stoppage time.

Just five minutes into the restart, Blackburn would equalise from an in-swinging corner which was powerfully headed home by substitute Paul Downing, who replaced Bradley Dack at the break.

However, Swansea would confirm all three points and the title when Daniel James' low cross met Dominic Solanke in the middle, who got away from his man and would place the ball past David Raya.

It proved to be a fantastic occasion for both sets of supporters, as Swansea lifted the Sky Bet Championship title, meanwhile Rovers celebrated confirming a playoff place after finishing in fifth, despite the loss.

They will face Brentford, whereas the opposing tie will be played out between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds over two legs to determine who will compete for the final position in next seasons Premier League.

Justice: And so we did! :D

Jack: The difference is, I didn't bottle it like Leeds would. ;)

Griffin: A fantastic season capped off in style.
Congratulations on the title and promotion! Now the real work begins building a squad capable of keeping Swansea in the top flight and moving forward! Hopefully you find this story's version of Michu!
I would congratulate you, but that reply to my last comment? Very sly, Scott. Very sly.*

I will cut straight to the chase. When I started this save, I intended it to be a BETA save. However, I didn't have the time to get stuck into it as I hoped to and therefore the story was fairly delayed. So, the story began after the release of the main game. Whilst I have thoroughly enjoyed the save, as I can see many have too, I simply want to begin my other adventures I had planned this FM.

Therefore, for now, this story will be stopped. I have saved the file to MediaFire and have the ability to download the save file again if I wish to restart the save and story, however for now... this is the end.

I would like to thank everybody for the support this story has received and hope that the next story I release is enjoyed just as much. To win Story of the Month in such a competitive field last month was fantastic. I enjoy writing stories and work hard to improve as each update is produced. I look forward to writing again very soon...

Thanks,

Scott.
Damn, it was fantastic while it lasted. I look forward to your next endeavour on here!
Damn, gutted :'(
Thank you for the memories. It has been a great story to follow! Gutted but you ended on a high, thank you!
