Unable to deactivate full screen

When I try to remove the full screen option I get a message saying "changing the screen settings failed. Make sure your system supports the settings" - I know my system does support the settings because I have always had it unchecked until recently. Does anyone know any common causes and/or workarounds? Thanks

Edit - Never mind, I just fixed it myself. If anyone else has this problem, try changing your screen resolution.

To what resolution?

1024x768 but it isn't working now anyway! I did find a workaround from SI but it isn't perfect, not for me anyway.

Add "-small_screen -windowed" to the target on you desktop short-cut. Without the quotes and also make sure you put it outside the quotations already on the target.

If the attributes page gets a bit messed up, just change your skin.
