Aleñá gets his first La Liga goal
Carles Aleñá was brought on for injured
Philippe Coutinho as the first substitute with just 30 minutes remaining of the game against
Real Betis in the 7th Round of
La Liga. This was
Aleñá's sixth apperance in
La Liga. The 20-year old played a fine game and it would get better. In the third additional minute Aleñá got his first
La Liga goal for
Barça.
For the goal,
Aleñá controlled possession in the midfield third before quickly laying off the ball to
Busquets who found
Messi.
Aleñá then waited for a gap to appear between the two centre-backs where he was found with a through ball from
Messi and elegantly chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper. It was a confident finish and
Aleñá celebrated the goal together with his team mates.
Carles Aleñá was born in
Mataró in 1998. He joined
La Masia at 7 years of age in 2005 and has raised through the ranks at
Barça. He made his
Barça B debut in 2015. In November 2016 he made his senior
Barça debut, starting and scoring the equalizer in an away draw against
Hércules CF in
Copa del Rey. Since then
Aleña has made 10 first team apperances and he was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2018.
