Welcome to a new story. Sorry the other one was short. I am just getting back to writing. A big thank you to those who have read the old one.

Redvee35's Italian Job

Stephen Jones an ex professional footballer. He has managed before with Cardiff City, Stoke City and Crewe Alexandra. He has never been to italy before and he has always wanted to manage in a foreign country. He has learnt Italian as a pass time and when he played football. He was hoping to play in Italy but it never happened. After a while of waiting his agent came to his house and they worked together on the next stage of his journey.

James Johnson the agent spoke." Stephen we have a club wanting your services in Italy. Are you wanting it"

Stephen Jones replied eagerly" Yes please".

Stephen sat and waited for his agent to say AC Milan but he said U.S. Sassuolo. Calcio instead.

James said "They want somebody to keep them in Serie A"

After taking the job he would have to tell his wife. That would be a fun thing to do.

The next day Stephen sat Emma down and explained they are moving to Italy and he expressed he would go alone , if she didn't want to come.

The next day they left for Italy and they goodbye for now to there family's.
Interesting, must have really wanted this job considering he's leaving loved ones behind in England. Also nice to see an English export as a manager. Will be following :)

After a long flight we arrived in Bologna. We had to wait to go through customs and there stood a man with a sign it said STEPHEN JONES. I spoke to the man in clear italian"Sono Stephen Jones. Potresti per favore portarci allo stadio Mapei".

In translation "I'm Stephen Jones. Could you please take us to the Mapei stadium"

The driver had drove for a while there in the distance stood the stadium. It was beautiful and I knew it will be full when we play.

I arrived at reception and went straight to the chairmen's office. Carlo Rossi he was waiting and then we agreed a contract and my objectives.

2 year deal and I must get a mid table finish.

£7 million transfer budget

£629.978 in wages

Then it was press time and then a look at the place Id be staying.

The fans were outside chanting"Benvenuto Stephen Jones e goodluck "
Will be intriguing to see how much of that budget you spend! Good luck Mr. Jones ;)
A tidy budget which will allow Stephen to bring in some blood. Best of luck!
Sassuolo are a good enough side that you should build something special here

Day 1

The first day in my new job. Paperwork on my desk from our secretary. She also made sure I had a coffee on my desk. Looking through my papers and Looked at the names of the players in our team. Then I looked at the staff list and arranged a meeting with my assistant manager Davide Possanzini.

Davide arrived we talked over lots of coffee and we worked out what tactics may suit us and what players are the best for the positions on the field.

A few players are on loan from other clubs.

Rogério (on loan from Juventus)

Manuel Locatelli (on loan from Milan) but joining permanent july 2019

With the rules on non eu we have 3 players Filip Đuričić from Serbia

Marlon Santos from Brazil

Khouma Babacar from Senegal

We are only allowed 3 so thats taken those slots
Looking forward to seeing who comes through the door.

Day 2

The new job is enjoyable at the moment. Met the players and the staff. Decided to keep the captain the same.

Captain is Francesco Magnanelli

Vice captain is Domenico Berardi

Looking at the youth we also have a danish player called Jens Odgaard he plays as a striker so he will be getting first team football as a backup for now.

Friendly's have been announced today.

Karpaty away 3-0 win

Cosenza away 3-1 win

Livorno netural ground

Foggia netural ground

Torres

The draw for the Qualifying rounds of Coppa Italia will take place Between the games of Torres and the next friendly which is Parma.

The next day we get word our game against Foggia is called off due to there game with Trapani.

With all the fans backing the boys and I to do well. We need a good win against Livorno.
Keeping hold of Berardi will be huge, such a quality player and a key component of this Sassuolo side
Thank you for the comment mate. He is staying put and Duncan also but if he gets offered a silly amount then I'm taking it

Day 3

Training day

The players are training hard for the game against Livorno. Alfred Duncan is training the hardest and he has been praised by the coaching team. Unfortunately Beraradi has been injured. The injury is a sprain but he should be back for the match.

After a while I left training early and went to my office. I received my coffee from my secretary and sat at my desk. I wanted to get a free agent to help at attacking midfield. The name that popped up was Sejad Salihović. He is from Bosnia but holds german nationality also. So signing him will only cost his wages. Unless his agent wants more.

The next day. I was in my suit, ready to do business with Sejad. Waiting for him took a while because of the traffic but he arrived at 2pm with his wife Julia and his agent Jannis Achilles.

Jannis started talking in english to me and asked" Where would I play his client. I said at attacking midfield and possible left midfield".

After a while of him talking to his client Sejad. It was my turn to talk. Due to his age and the rules I offered him a year contract with the possibilty of extending the year after. His wages where shocking but not in a bad way £3.500 a week.

He signed the contract. I was looking forward to working with him.

The new season is starting very soon. Training has been both good and bad.

Duncan injured for 3 weeks.

Beraradi inured but back very soon. Will miss the season opener with Pescara in the Coppa Italia qualifying round 3.

The team is shaping up but we had to find a new assistant manager as he left to join the national team as head coach. We had a look round and one name came to mind.

David Platt ex England International Legend and ex Manchester City coach and he can speak Italian. So we signed him. He is joining but if a managing job comes up, he can go.

Pescara match at home. The crowd was hyped up and the chants were flying through the air "Sassuolo è la più grande squadra" in english "
Sassuolo is the biggest team".

The stadium was full of green and black shirts. I was nervous, knee's trembling and David Platt at the side " It's ok boss , just enjoy it". Walked down the tunnel with the captain Francesco Magnanelli and the ball boy. Left to go to the TV presenter and they asked "Stai andando per una vittoria" in english "
You're going for a win".

I answered yes of course.

Sassuolo 2-0 Montantes and Matri

So we are through to the next round. Sampdoria is the first league game in Serie A.
A tidy result, well done.
Good result, well done.
