Actually I have managed several teams in FM 2010 and this time I decide to have Barcelona in my list ...

I have read several information about Lionel Messi's lack of goal scoring instinct in their game although he got the highest average rating in his team ...

In my mind, I thought that they were not setting the right instruction for him ...

and yes ... finally I have to believe them ...:p:p:p
In my first season, Messi only scored 20 goals in all competitions and 12 are from penalties ... :(:(

Can anyone who also manage Barcelona tell the secret about how to make messi's goal scoring instinct works?
I'm really having trouble ...

I already put him in his favorite position, the AMR with the inside forward instruction ...

and what about the preferred moves that really suit with Messi's style of play?
I have instructed messi to learn cut inside... what else?

Thanks

well i don't know about you guys, but i don't really see him as a flat out goal scorer or eaven a big goal scorer from his position, then i'm of course comparing him to ronaldo... anyway, i manage the nationalteam of argentina, i play him as an innerforward with option to drift and a position swap with right winger... this allows him to basicly do what ever he wants and in my opinion make the best out of his godgiven feet... he dosen't score unlimited goals though he once in a while decides to shine and score like 4 goals against brazil or germany... but still, if you watch the games carefully he creates alot of chanses with runs and and eariley advanced passes eithout getting assists or goals... so basicley i gives youre offence a dimention of it's own, but he doesn't nesseseriley go up on the board alot

One thing you should know is that this season Messi has rarely played on the right like you have suggested. The emergence of Pedro within the team has meant Messi moving behind the striker in a more central role.

If you watch any games of Barce, you will see Messi essentially given a free role. He drifts around, switches with wingers on both sides and is generally allowed to play where and how he likes. This leads to him finding space close to the box where he can view all players in front of him an begin a run through the opposition.

My suggestion would be to play him in the AMC position either as an inside forward or a trequartista. This will allow him more creative freedom to roam the pitch, pick up passes and play one-twos. Also, this ability to move will mean him following up strikers to poach goals, drag a defender wide whilst the striker moves with the ball etc.

Added 1 minute later:

When i play barca i play 4-3-3 formation and put Messi as the right striker, poacher and he scores pretty much
I agree with XtremeGanesh. I play with a 4-2-3-1, with 3 AMC, not wingers. Play Messi on the right side of this attacking midfield trio as a trequartista, but watch out because this will automatically set him as your playmaker, which you probably don't want.
