I woke up to the incessant sound of my alarm, fumbling carelessly on my bedside table in an attempt to save my ears from what many would refer to as the worst sound in the world.

Within five or so minutes, once my eyes had adjusted to the room, I lay on my back - scrolling endlessly through Twitter and the sports pages on my phone.

My name had appeared in two articles this morning. And yes, I had a habit of Googling myself.

The first was based on comments made to 'The Swedish Football Post' in which I had said that my time away from the game has helped me collect my thoughts - which should help me to hit the ground running in a new job.

The second appeared in the 'Anyang Football Paper', where journalist Park Sung-Joo had questioned me via email about whether I was interested in taking over at Anyang should manager Kim Hyung-Yul find himself out of work.

My answer was simple, that I wouldn't be drawn into talking about another manager potentially losing their job. I felt that was unfair.

There were a few matters on the main pages for English football to attend to also; Roberto Di Matteo had been appointed as the new manager at Barnsley, whilst Tim Sherwood had taken his first management role in some time at Southend.

I had barely had enough time to roll out of bed before my phone rang.

"Hi there, it's Pat O'Sullivan" boomed from my handset, before being followed closely by "the Chairman at Limerick F.C - we've received your job application and would like to interview you via the phone at your earliest convenience."

I ran my hands through my thick blonde locks.

"I'm available to speak to you now."

A conversation ensued where I answered questions about dressing room atmospheres, my handling of budgets and more. Football stuff, y'know?

I thought I had done well enough to have been given some time after the interview - but before the call had even finished, O'Sullivan sighed and returned with "Sorry, Leif, I just don't think you're what we're looking for."
What seemed to be a potential opportunity for Leif turns out to be a bitter blow. A great opening chapter to this story, I hope to see more! Good luck.
A good start...Hopefully Leif will find a job soon enough.
A very good start mate, I wonder if Leif's early disappointment will drive him forward into more opportunities...
