1860 Munich have announced that the planning phase for a new stadium is underway in a press conference this afternoon. The facility is expected to have a capacity of around 22,000 expected, an increase of 7,000 compared to Grünwalder Stadion. The new site for the stadium will also have capacity for expansion unlike the previous sites limitations which saw the need for a new location.
In further developments, the youth facilities for 1860 Munich are set to be improved with a €6,000,000 upgrade planned to commence at the end of the season and be completed by October 2023. Youth has been a prominent area of focus for the club with young talents such as Christian Schmidt, Mehran Rahmati, Mutlu Yagan and Dominik Abesser all expected to draw interest from rival clubs.
“Our club is incredibly proud to announce our upcoming plans for a new stadium as well as improving our youth facilities.” said 1860 Munich President Niklas Volker. “It will be a wonderful investment for everyone at the club from the cleaners to the crowd all the way through to the coach.” he added.
Further pressure is now placed on the shoulders of 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka with 1860 Munich maintaining their place in the Bundesliga competition vital to the proposed upgrades and their financial viability.
