Results

September saw 1860 Munich play three fixtures across the month with three different results, starting with a draw in a disappointing result which saw Schalke 04 defender Joris Gnagnon score late in the second half to rescue a point from the match.

In the next fixture, RB Leipzig were far too strong with Timo Werner scoring a hattrick in the 3-0 loss. A goal from vice-captain Armel Bella-Kotchap helped 1860 Munich secure their only victory of the month against VfB Stuttgart.

-----

Bundesliga

Bayern Munich hold a three-point advantage over RB Leipzig while several teams find themselves just a few points away. At the bottom of the table, expected title contender Bayer Leverkusen remain without a win with the job of manager Peter Bosz expected to be reviewed despite leading the side to the 2020/21 Bundesliga title.

-----

Player Of The Month

Domagoj Bradaric

Putting together a good run of form to start the season, the 22-year-olds performance in the 1-0 victory against VfB Stuttgart was crucial to securing the result, making a large amount of tackles and intercepts to stop multiple attacking threats.

After a stellar month, the 22-year-old left back is rumoured to be in line for a return to the Croatian national team after a two-year hiatus potentially just in time for the 2022 World Cup.

Injury Report

Lisandru Tramoni

The 19-year-old has broken his foot during the fixture against RB Leipzig and is expected to be out of action for between two to three months.

Starting with two consecutive away fixtures against TSG Hoffenheim and VFL Wolfsburg, 1860 Munich face rivals Bayern Munich who currently find themselves at the top of the Bundesliga.
The second round of DFB-Pokal against SpVgg Greuther Furth before the final fixture of year for 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga against SV Werder Bremen as the competition takes a break due to the 2022 World Cup.

J_ames & ScottT: Leverkusen are my favourite Bundesliga team IRL, sad to see them struggle

tedbro20, Eoin97 & Justice: Happy with my start but a long way to go before it really means anything

TheLFCFan: I only added the own goals into my writing because of how annoyed I was haha!

MrHLFox: Not a good start for them at all, I always struggle against them for some reason
Some juicy games coming up. It looks like you may have a shot at a high finish in the league but as you said, still early days ;)
1
an excellent 4 points there but its going to be a massive month coming up though with a lot of tough games
1
Some very good going in the league despite that 3-0 loss. Almost a third into the season and you look like you're challenging for European football already! Hopefully this can be maintained.
1
A point against Schalke would usually be considered a good result but conceding late on does detract from that a little. Never mind. Another three points against Stuttgart enables the table to still read quite nicely.
1
Incredibly difficult month of fixtures coming up, the lads are going to need to be at their best to keep you in touch with European placings. Glad to see Domagoj get off to a great start at the club :D
1
A tough month in terms of results but a midtable finish wouldn't be bad at all. Still a long way to go this season!

1860 Munich Advance In DFB-Pokal

Philipp Steinhart led the way for 1860 Munich with two assists against SpVgg Greuther Furth

1860 Munich 3 - 0 SpVgg Greuther Furth

Looking to exact revenge on SpVgg Greuther Furth after being eliminated from the DFB-Pokal by them in the 2020/21 season, 1860 Munich got off to a flyer, opening the scoring in the first minute with Efkan Bekiroglu heading home a Philipp Steinhart free kick.

1860 Munich defender Herbert Paul added to the lead after Johann Ngounou Djayo put him into space and he placed a shot from outside the box. Musa Barrow got on the end of a cross into the box from Philipp Steinhart to head the ball which then deflected down from the crossbar and into the goal to increase the lead to three goals in just the 19th minute which would be maintained until the half time break.

During the second half, 1860 Munich continued to produce chances and dominate possession but failed to convert their further opportunities into goals. Several players picked up yellow cards after some frustration and niggle worked its way into the game as the match ended.

“I am happy with our performance and looking forward to our next match in the competition.” said 1860 Munich captain Efkan Bekiroglu. “There are still many strong sides we are yet to face, it is important that we take it one game at a time and do our best for our fans throughout the competition.” he added.

The third-round draw of the DFB-Pokal will see 1860 Munich play away from home and face Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV.

Comments

Justice, tedbro20, ScottT & TheLFCFan: Still early days, but there certainly is some positive signs

Jack & J_ames: Europe would be great but survival is the focus at the moment
A comfortable victory as you would come to expect. Another 2.Bundesliga side in the next round enables a fairly easier route through once again. The draws have been kind so far.
Very good win against Greuther Furth, does a cup run in Germany have a good financial impact on the bank balance?
1
A super win there to see you through to the next round as well as secure some more prize money. A reasonably kind draw in the Third Round to come against Hamburg too!
1
We riot in happiness!
1
Excellent win to see you progress
1
Expected victory but nonetheless one you can be happy with. Well done.

A brace from Musa Barrow saw 1860 Munich start the month with a 2-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim followed by a bore draw against VfL Wolfsburg and a loss to rivals Bayern Munich.

After a victory in the DFB-Pokal, the month finished with a dominant 3-0 win over SV Werder Bremen. 1860 Munich went into the final game of the month missing both their starting fullbacks and wingers due to injury, only to see both replacement fullbacks be injured during the game and forced from the field. 18-year-old midfielder Lothar Piller showed everyone what he is capable of, scoring two goals from outside the box in a man of the match performance.

-----

Bundesliga

The undefeated Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga by three points from the second placed RB Leizpig. At the bottom of the table, Bayer Leverkusen continue to struggle with only one win so far this season while FC Augsburg appear to be relegation favourites with just three points from eleven matches

-----

Player Of The Month

Musa Barrow

After struggling to find the back of the net for the first two months of the season, in a return to form Musa Barrow scored three goals in five games during October.

With the good form shown by 1860 Munich so far this season, the Gambian international becoming more consistent in front of goal could assist them in maintaining their current position or even progressing further.

Injury Report

Domagoj Bradaric

Suffering from a hamstring strain in match against VfL Wolfsburg, the 22-year-old Croatian defender is expected to be out for one to two more weeks.

Herbert Paul

After straining knee ligaments, the 28-year-old back-up right back will be unavailable for one to two weeks.

Lisandru Tramoni

Continuing to recover from a broken foot, the break in the Bundesliga schedule could not come at a better time for the 19-year-old winger who still requires one to two months in order to recover.

Pedro Porro

One week remains in recovery for the Manchester City loanee after pulling his calf muscle in the match against Bayern Munich.

Philipp Steinhart

The back-up left back fractured his arm during the match against SV Werder Bremen, an injury he could have played with but will still require just over a month to heal.

-----

Fixtures

The 2022 World Cup will see German football take a break from action for two months, while the usual winter break which occurs in the first few weeks of January will not be possible.

Once returning from the break, 1860 Munich will face a tough schedule with eight matches set to take place in January.

Comments

ScottT & Jack: The draw has certainly gone in my favour

J_ames: The winner gets around €3,500,000 so not really that great of a financial benefit compared to moving up just one spot in the league

Justice: I am keen for a riot, not afraid of a good time

tedbro20 & TheLFCFan: Happy with the win, hoping for a solid cup run this season
