ScottT- so many fixtures with trying to maintain fitness levels is key already!
Griffo - If i want cup runs and a decent season in the league ive got to find a balance that is for sure
With October now over we can start looking at the league table more closely and it doesn't lie. Another solid month unbeaten in the league with a four clean sheets as well. Only defeat cam on penalties against Coventry. AGAIN I went for players needed game time fitness and it almost paid off but conceding to late goals and then loosing the shootout really did hurt.

Injuries are starting to rack up its only little niggles during the month but when you miss players for a game or two at this level it can be very costly, luckily no serve injuries as of yet tho

POM - Kun 5 goals across all comps this month and as finally start to find hes feet, he needs to continue this form if we want to achieve promotion

Only the 5 games this month with two being cup games. We start out FA cup run against Leyton Orient, will need to progress there for the board to stay happy. Midway through we then have Crystal Palace U23's must win game in order to progress to the 2nd round in the FA Trophy.

With January just around the corner ive had a decent look at the squad and im actually concerned about the general age. Im going to have to either start bringing some youngsters through or look to delve into the transfer market. Either way its going to be an important 2 windows in Newport County's future.
Great month. The Trophy should never be a priority when you have hopes of gaining promotion like yourself, so I'm pleased to hear you're rotating in that competition. It's a poor competition anyway (bring back the JPT) ;) A certainly more relaxed month in terms of the schedule will allow for players to return to fitness without missing too much football. Oldham and Grimsby will be tough games looking at the table, although the former's form hasn't been too great and could be taken advantage of.
After a tough start to the season and with some lofty expectations, the past couple of months have seen some big improvements and now sat second is a great start to the season overall. A shame about the continued injuries, as you say, only niggles but even then missing players for a couple games at a time isn't ideal. Looking forward to the next month with hopeful cup progression to bring in a bit of that Cup money!
In a good position here, still close at the top so a slip in form could see you drop quickly, I hope the positive results continue
We are going say we are going is being chanting at every ground from the Newport county fans and who can blame them...

We are currently sat top YES TOP of the league after November. In the League strong but sadly couldn't come up with the good in the FA cup against a strong Leyton Orient side. We managed to scrape through the JPT trophy after Coventry managed to beat Plymouth after a pathetic performance against Palace.

We have a long way to go but with the depth we have in certain positions there is no reason we cant compete in the JPT and give the fans a trip to Wembley and secure promotion

POM- is the consistent Scott Bennett League one clubs want him and who can blame them the protector of the back 4 and if we are to go up hes going to need to stay fit!

Looking forward in December we are on our travels starting with Bradford who will have promotion ambitions of there own. Luckily the other top half teams we play are at home with Leyton Orient finishing the month hoping we can gain revenge

ScottT - yeah JPT was some much easier to remember and everyone knew what you were on about!! Its now going to be a bit of a focus - but we shall see depending on fixtures around that time. Ive never know fixture list like it no wonder league 1 & 2 tables are so unpredictable

LFC - cup money sadly didn't happen but im sure they can forgive me if we secure promotion! Niggles have stopped with Josh Sheenan coming back from the groin strain then getting food poisoning once fit, wasnt ideal going into the Oldham game.

Griffo - Keep hoping the results are postive!

Thanks for all everyone reading! Didn't really know what to expect being a new member, but knowing people are interested keep it all fresh for me :D
A good run of results in the league. A replay followed by a defeat in the FA Cup is frustrating, an additional game with no pay-off at the end of it. The financial benefits of progression are always welcomed, so that's a shame. However, it allows you to prioritise your focus on the league. To have only lost one game in the league at this stage of the season is excellent.
Top of the pile, keep it up!

Happy New Year!!! Certainly is for everyone involved at Newport County. Start of the month the board and myself sat down and thrashed out a new contract! No real surprise only surprise it was only December! Nothing changed in terms of 5 year plan, think they just wanted me to commit and so i did.

After that the games were kicking off as i said it was going to be a tough month with a few big games. Our dominant performances from August were still happening but this time the chances were being made and turned into goals from all over the pitch. We even brushed aside Oxford in the 2nd round the JPT and we now face Spurs U23's i personally fancy our chances at home but we shall see. Notable 5-0 and 6-1 wins at home and it felt so good to get revenge against Leyton Orient!

New feature this year i think was the youth intake preview, looks like this season its favoured wingers, which doesn't really suit us but we shall see! Even if i can develop them to sell them on il be happy!

We took a huge injury blow this month loosing O'Brien pretty much for the rest of season hopefully Iniss can step otherwise we may have to look for something in the youth system!

Positive note tho we are building a bit of a gap from 2nd but more importantly making it hard for 8th to catch us!

We have 7 YES 7 games in total thur January so rotation is going to be key. We will have to look youth prospects here just to keep everyone fresh so sacrificing the JPT could be option.

Congrats on the new contract. You've certainly merited it!
Well done on earning a new contract
Great to receive a new contract. That Youth Intake preview is exciting as well even if they don't fit the system, if there are some good players there, you can generate some good money selling them on!
Sorry about the late update.. work life has got in the way! but here it is January's update.

Well our unbeaten league run has continued and extends to 19! A lot of games at the start of the month made it difficult for us to compete against Spurs in the JPT where we sadly lost 2-1. We then went on a run of 3 games drawing 1-1 which is a little frustrating but the momentum is still there.

O'Brien in the heart of defence with Howkins as been huge, getting to the point now where im tempted to drop Bennett from defensive midfield and try him there. we shall see tho.

We are still top by 7 points but that gap till 8th is still a healthy 16! and with 16 games left we have to fancy at least Playoffs!

Joss Labadie has joined O'Brien in the treatment room. luckily its not a long absence but at this level every player missing whether its 1 game or 6 is huge!

POM - Ryan Haynes been bombing down the left all and is now delivering end product scoring one and assisting one this month!

Going forward we have the league to concentrate on so its now time that we can kick on and secure promotion!

New contract was coming but surprised it was offered in December especially after a poor FA cup run

Think that will be the case develop and sell on but we shall see maybe a change in tactic could be on the horizon
