How to get international head coach job?

After 5 seasons I have won a Champion's League with my club.

After the Euro there were 8 open national team jobs. I applied for each and was unsuccessful with each team saying that I wasn't the best person for the job.

What do I have to do to get one?

Do I have to quit my club first? I would like both jobs at once which was possible with previous FM games.

how high has it improved your reputation? do you have much reputation outside of your home nation? those will play a part.

One club, one CL won't possibly give you enough for them to consider, most international managers have a fairly lengthy club career before getting the national jobs. so you might need to go to different clubs and win trophies across europe.
