With the events of last night and Valencia breaking his ankle, he looks to be out for the season. As a United I am genuinely gutted for Valencia and I was at the game last night and it was not pretty.

For United the players who can play on the right are: Nani, Park, Obertan. If Nani starts on the right, on the left wing: Giggs can't play every game, Park is not exactly in the form of his life and Obertan is inexperienced.

If I was Ferguson I would buy a winger in January, but over the next few game I think in the absence of Valencia, Fergie may change his tactics. I just wanted to know other's thoughts on this and will Valencia return or become another Owen Hargreaves?
Well to be honest I saw it as well and although at first I didn't see it because it was so quick it was easy to tell something ws seriously wrong by judging the reaction of the player. With injuries like this I think he will be ok and return to from but it may put him a season behind in his development. Hargreaves always had dodgy knees and has just been unlucky imo.

Team wise I think park on his day is good enough with the rotation of giggs, obertan(great opportunity for experience now), and park I think he is covered, and with a wanning form wayne rooney possibly play him more wide? Also I know he not back to full fitness yet but what about Bebe?

This result means very little in champions league as I see our other matches as not overly difficult, I mean valencia don't have villa, or silva, and are rebuilding in that sense just like when we lost tevez and ronaldo, and the turkish side is still learning, so easy win games, rangers might qualify but have lack firepower upfront apart from miller? so they could qualify for once although I expect united to beat a more open rangers in scotland at the end of the groups fixtures.
I think we will still top the group regardless we have too much quality, lol. As for the derby against the scousers I think Fergie will lineup like this:

Van der Sar

O’Shea Vidic Ferdinand Evra

Nani Scholes Fletcher Giggs

Rooney Berbatov

I can't see Fergie giving Obertan some game time in a match like this, our next four games are Bolton, Sunderland, W.Brom and Stoke which I could see Obertan being involved in.

As for Bebe seeing as he has not played a game in a United shirt I can see him being part of the Carling Cup squad.

Nani seems to be the "replacement" for Valencia, but I do think Nani sometimes lacks the final ball and thats why we usually see him on the left so he can cut inside.

In fairness Park can turn up to the big games when he wants to (Liverpool last season) but I would not be comfortable to see him play ahead Giggs unless Giggs needs a rest.

Also imo I would not put Wayne on the wing, we tried that when Ronaldo was in the squad and he was too inconsistent
nani was brilliant last season, especially being more effective with his last balls. he was always great when in form but massively inconsistent. now he gets going and keeps it going.

but obertan hasnt looked good at all. im doubting he will become a first team player this season.

but anderson is back and he can probably at times fill out at the left wing if required, he certainly has the skills for it.

but we will lack that crossing quality from valencia. its a blow, but a team like united should be able to handle such blows.
just wanted to know if anyone knew if cleverly can be recalled or is his deal to remain all season he showed some promise in preseason and it would be a great chance for him
usually loan deals don't include a calling back clause. because the team that loans want to be sure that they will have the player for a certain amount of time.

but i don't think he is ready for first team yet.
I think cleverley is a good player, and currently is doing well at wigan, I mean jack wilkshire went to bolton now he is first team in arsenal I see that happening with cleverly and wellbeck in the next 2 seasons
I love Cleverley reminds me a bit like Fletcher and I think he'll do well at Wigan. I just had a thought that during the january window buy someone like Marc Albrington from Villa who I have been really impressed with this season, just to keep all positions covered in case of an injury crisis

As for Welbeck I don't think he's lived up to what I thought a few years back when he was 17. Maybe it is lack of first team experience so hopefully he'll do well

Diouf is another one we've loaned out who could have potentially played on the wing because he is absolutely rapid!

I have full confidence Fergie will sort it out, he's such a legend
