RISE AND FALL: This is a good summary of the history of Palermo. Great players, great campaigns, and a very big story of this big Italian club. With all this he also brings us a big fall, with many scandals, dirty stories from his owners, and many obscure things to beat the big crowd of ROSANERO.

But for all the darkness, there is a light at the end, and this is the start over of Palermo. With new owners comes the need for a big new project, and nobody in Italy is so prepared to make happen "The Fênix of Sicília" as "Il Maestro" Andrea Pirlo.

"Il Maestro" system it consists in a good and very attacking football, very fluid, a lot of pressure, short passing and movement, working the ball through various channels, and maintaining possession.
Its goal is to implement this system both in the main team and in the "Aquile Boys", the young center of Palermo, renamed by Il Maestro

SHORT GOALS:
  • Install our game system
  • Make a team based (not all) on U-23 players
  • Have financial stability with good fluidity
  • Develop the young center "Aquile Boys" (Generating and buying wonderkids)
  • Move up 3 divisions in 3 years

LONG GOALS:
  • Qualify for the Europa League
  • Qualify for the Champions League
  • Win the Coppa Italia
  • Win the Serie A
  • Win the UEFA Europa League
  • Win the UEFA Champions League

INDEX
2019/2020:

A massive project ahead. Best of luck!

First day of Pirlo ahead of the club

  • Terminate the contracts of part of the staff that are not suitable to the club and with our new philosophy

  • Search for renewal the staff including new head and assistant coaches with our philosophy for U-20 and U-18 teams
  • Tactics already assembled for the season and reported to the team

  • Players who will not remain at the club already informed and listed for transfer. Were listed:
    1. Players over 23 years old
    2. High-paying players
    3. Players who do not fit the game system

  • Pre-season friendly matches already scheduled. It was tagged:
    1. Sicília Invitational Cup - a cup made in Sicily at the Palermo house with Italian giants (Roma, Inter and Napoli)
    2. A tour to Montenegro (4 friendly matches)
    3. 2 games with the biggest clubs of Tunisia

  • Players and staff's of club interest were also added to the preferential list and contacts have already been made. For market observation and player analysis, the following were taken and counted:
    1. U-23 players whenever possible (Due to our own philosophy and also the rules of the league (hat it is necessary to have at least 1 player U-18, 3 U-19 and 4 U-20 in the field))
    2. Players with a salary requirement appropriate to the club's budget and the league's financial ceiling (€3.000 p/m.)
    3. And obviously players suited to our game philosophy

#SIAMOAQUILE
Pirlo clearly has his own way of playing the game set out. That two center back formation is certainly interesting, I wonder if the bold move will pay off. Good Luck!

Pre-season completed

Andrea Pirlo had a great pre-season ahead of Palermo, with a very busy market, intense training, application of all its philosophy and finally the results in the friendly matches.

In the market, Il Maestro had a lot of work, to analyze the market, find players who adapt to their philosophy, accept the club's salary cap and still accept to play Serie D, having a total of 43 purchases and 10 sales, including players for the main team and also for the base, which was part of their project.

Those were purchases that involved money, all the others were from free players.

On purchased players the highlights can go to:

Hachim Mastour the former wonderkid of Milan, who arrived on a 1-year loan with a purchase option for €250,000

Mário Ferreira the former winger of Benfica and Sampdoria, he is a wonderkid that arrived for free

Kevin Méndez the former wonderkid of Roma and selected player who played for the Uruguayan national team

The other purchases that we can highlight are: Matheus Cassini, former wonderkid of Brazil and who has played for Palermo in a recent period; Will Miler the former striker of Tottenham and Burton, the Italian wonderkids of 17 years Filippo Tolomello and Francesco Laurenzi, beyond the wonder Italian striker of 16 years Alberto Cristiano, that promises to have many chances in the team throughout the season, also the former fullback of Milan, Parma and Sampdoria with a big experience with his 34 years that will help young players of Rosanero.

These were the sales made by the Il Maestro:

Also to help in the market, a day of tests at the club was done by the board to help reassemble both the main team and the base that there were almost no players.

Already inside the field, Pirlo led the team in the friendlies and had a good response within what he expected.

A short summary of the friendlies:
Palermo x Roma: We were winning and dominating the match until we had a player sent off at the beginning of the 2nd half, after that we suffer 2 goals, we went forward to try to recover and we took 2 more

Palermo x Internazionale: Again we opened the scoring, we imposed our game but the lack of interaction and also of physical conditioning against a giant charged us, we took the turn and we were unable to recover.

In the other friendlies, even against strong teams, like the team of ES Sahel we had a great dominance throughout the game, having more than 67% possession of the ball in all games, creating many and many chances and exchanging more than 550 passes in all games too.

Against the Italian giants we use the formation 4-1-4-1, and in all other friendlies we use the formation 2-1-4-2-1, and this is the one that Pirlo liked the most the performance, and it will be the one that he will have as a base for the beginning of the season, obviously adapting to some games, teams and special occasions.

The base team will consist of:

And this is the summary of Palermo's pre-season 2019. The next games will be against:

Soon more updates of the saga of Il Maestro Pirlo ahead of Palermo. #SIAMOAQUILE
Mastour! That's a name I haven't heard in some time. Hopefully a move to Palermo can reignite his career. A lot of money coming in and being spent for this level - you should be able to navigate yourself out of league easily.

Some very good performances against some good teams in the pre-season games. Your business has been very good with a large amount of players joining the club it seems. I look forward to seeing how they perform, especially Mastour who was supposed to be the next great thing.

Six games later...

A short summary of these games:

x Acireale (Serie D Cup):We dominated the game from the beginning, taking the reins and imposing our offensive game, our Uruguayan #10 Kevin Méndez played very well doing a hat-trick and getting an incredible 9.6 note in addition to the also highlighted Danilo Ambro who scored 9.0.

x Corigliano: Playing against an offensive team we had a hard to complete the moves, even dominating the game (58% of possession) and creating 3 clear opportunities it was a game short of what we can. The bright side of this game is the debut of our 16 year old wonderkid, Alberto Cristiano, and became the youngest player ever to play for the Sicilian giant.

x Castrovillari: Due to many injury losses we were forced to switch to 3-4-3 (3-5-1-1) and even with many substitutes on the field we dominated completely and won easily.

x Troina: Another clear dominance of the game, attacking the 90 minutes and without suffering almost (just 1 kick in our goal) no opponent attack.

x San Tommaso: A perfect match, this is the best summary. Complete dominance of the game, highlights for Mário Ferreira (9.6 score) with a hat-trick, the former Spurs striker Will Miller (9.5 score) with 2 goals and an assist and for our midfielder Danilo Ambro (9.5 score) with 2 goals and 2 assists, but the whole team was perfect, everyone deserved this result.

x FC Messina (Serie D Cup): Another consistent and dominant game, the highlight was Raimondo Lucera, our 18-year-old forward who is being one of the team's highlights at the start of the season in addition to our "biggest signing" Hachim Mastour, who for the first time he played 90 full minutes and scored 1 goal and have 1 assist also.

Other highlights:
- Hachim Mastour was injured in the pre-season and was out for 4 weeks
- Our 16-year-old wonderkid Alberto Cristiano was called and debuted to Italy's Under-19 national team
- Kevin Méndez was also injured in a great phase and was out for 4 weeks
- With our 9-0 win over San Tommaso, we broke the record for both the club and the league with the most goals in history

#SIAMOAQUILE
