Hello my name is John Widger and Iam the manager for Bow AAC, We are a amatuer club and play in the lowest league in English Football, the Devon & Exeter League Division One.
we where founded in 1991 it was a dream to become at the very least a semi pro team. our home is a rented part of a field which belongs to a local farmer called Burston Meadow.
Now we had been a mid table sort of team for afew years and the club wanted to push on to the Devon and Exeter premier league,
but afew hours after our last game against Exter uni, the chairman had a call from the farmer who owned the field.
we where sat in the club house drinking afew beer after that big result and the mood was joyful but something wasnt right, the chairman dropped him phone and started crying saying its all over
it turns out the field need to plow the field up and turn it back into a farming field because he was selling up and a football pitch on the land was not going to be part of the deal.
but i could not let this club fold so i made a call to another local team and telling them what had happened and if possible would we meet to dicuss a possible ground share in which we would pay half of any fees.
iam glad to say after afew days the other local club agreed to a ground share with agreement from the local FA.
the story of Bow the little village that could will go on
