Heart v Head = Westham v Man United
The new FM 2020 gave me a big decision. The question was simple;
Do I continue to do what I have always done with all my Champ Manager \ Football Manager Careers or Do I try a new challenge….to make Manchester United great again?
From the very beginning, I have always taken Westham United FC and built them up to win leagues, cups and always had a major consortium buy us and then inject a lot of cash into the clubs so we push on in the champions league.
It always gives me great pleasure to be the Westham Manager and build the club up. It may not be a rags-to-riches story but making the underdog win is something that always feels special at any level in football.
However, the terrible situation that Man United have been in for the last years did make the question \ challenge a lot more interesting for me. Can you make Man United great again? Not just good but great, not just one season of success but many seasons.
In FM2016 my heart won and Westham, Jamaica, England and Brazil all enjoyed success with me as their Manager.
There was a 4 year break.
In FM2020 my head won and Manchester United, Russia, Holland and England all got lots of success, cups, money and nearly all targets were achieved.
After 7 long seasons, I am about to begin season number 8 in the FM2020 game. Westham is listed as my favourite club and yes, I did have a job offer from them to save the club from relegation. However, FM2020 is not about Westham so my heart and favourite club will have to wait until FM2024* before I return back to my roots and home.
I wish you all many seasons of success and if one of you could be so kind as to build up Westham, that would be lovely
