loan players becomes ineligble

I signed a player on loan in July. He played 2 or 3 games.

I then agreed to sign him at the end of the season. He agreed to sign but now he's inelligble.

“A player under offer who has already played for another team in one season cannot play in the next match or he will be ineligible for his new club”

Any ideas what has happened here? He did not play any games for his club before i signed him in pre-season.

That does sound a bit odd/strange.

Perhaps it can help with a comparison but in FM16 i decided to take Manuel Lanzini and make his loan move perminate.

Are you sure he is unavailable because of the loan-to-perminant move? ...is he registered in your squad for the season?
