How long should you give a tactic?

Hello all,

This is just really a simple question for how long you should give a tactic you are using, as in just how long you should use a tactic before you decide to abandon it or change.

I just feel sometimes I stop using a tactic that might not be doing well in a certain moment and usually just consider leaving the tactic and stop using but sometimes I do question if I have done it too soon and whether if I had left it a bit longer things would have improved or whether or not I was right to abandon it so soon. I usually try and give and a tactic about 10-15 games if it is going too well but if it is going well I will just continue to use it as it is until it starts to not work as well.
Quick answer - You shouldn't be using one tactic for every game. You should have slight alterations of that tactic for different situations. Not one tactic can win every game, even if you are using Liverpool with Knap's tactics.

Now if you are talking about a basic shape then you should have that built around your squads strengths. I wouldn't encourage changing that constantly, this will get you no where.

I think that's been my problem. I constantly try to use the same shape and instructions regardless of who I am playing. Just really naive on my behalf really thinking something would work at Brentford as well as against Liverpool. I have always changed things I've known that in game are blatantly not working (dropping lines of defence if getting beat by ball over the top, etc.) but haven't tended to do it between or prior to a game, often because I don't want to tinker in case I mess it up. If I' being honest I'm not even really sure what some instructions actually mean
