Contract issue with my players

In the second season of my Barca career on Fm20 and both Messi and Suarez are in their final years for their contracts. I delegated a renewal for both of them and noticed the renewal added no time onto their current deals so they’re still in the final year of their contracts. I was unable to try and offer a new deal on top of the ones they just got so I went back to a save pre new contracts to handle it myself but the length I’m allowed to offer them still adds no time to their current deals because they won’t accept starting the contract at the end of the season. Anyone have any idea what’s going on or how to fix this?

I’ve fixed it now, I had to offer crazy clauses and a super high loyalty bonus for him to agree the renewal starting at the end of the season.

I never offer any clauses btw. Simple, just a little higher wage. Those clauses can be a trouble losing money month after month
