Born on the 30th October 1986, Diego Armando Perez spent his entire career playing for his hometown club, Boca Juniors. Winning the Copa Libertadores in 2007 at a young age of 21, Perez went on to also represent his country 68 times, scoring 27 goals in the position his idol and one of the best to grace the game, Diego Maradona played.
Having to retire three years ago at the young age of 30, Perez has since been coaching with Boca. And despite being relatively young, he’s entered the managerial world, with yet another connection to his idol. As Napoli came calling after deciding that Gennaro Gattuso isn’t the man to lead the I Partenopei after all. And if Perez can replicate anything similar to what Maradona did in Naples, then the Neapolitans will take another Diego into their hearts.
