Faces for your players, add them to the graphics folder:

I have decided to alter my previous Darlington save and repackage the whole project.

So here goes:

Eric Openshaw and his brother Arthur have decided to sell their successful supermarket business, and enjoy their retirement. Their first love is football, Eric has bought Darlington FC, while his brother Aruthur bought Darlington Town. In this alternate reality you start side by side in Sky Bet Division 7. You goal is beat Arthur's team up the league and make Eric proud!
Arthur has appointed tried and tested manager Mark hughes, while Eric loves a gamble, and has decieded to choose you!

Game Mechanics:

Each division now has 30 teams in! You start on level 7.

But there is a catch! 15 teams will get promoted, and 15 will get relegated, so your goal is a top half finish. Do or die it's as simple as that!

As part of the Openshaw vanity project they have also decided to create a league for only teams in Durham Country, so not only will you have to play 58 league games a season, but you will play another 48 games on top in a local league named after the Openshaw brothers. 25 teams all of varying ability, all looking to kick lumps into each other in local derbies!

Oh did I mention you also have the cups to play as well!

Your squad is all aged 14, their potential ability is capped fairly low, and they will be poor players at the start. Do you train them up, or replace them? You decide.

Brexit is cancelled, work permits are very easy to get. All teams added to the leagues have been padded out with strong players. While there is no limit to loans! All subs are avilable for games, so you can replace your team at half time if your falling apart.

SEASON ONE

Sucess or defeat is measured in a top 15 places finish, that in most cases will mean promotion!

Mixed results through the course of the season. The Openshaw league is against teams in the County of Durham, these teams have mixed ability so some games will have big wins or losses.

The final League Table:

A ninth placed finish, I was in the top 15 so haven't lost any ground, but local Darlington rivals, Darlington Athletic and Darlington Town run away with the league!

The Openshaw County Durham Championship

I had no idea what to expect this in my first season test. Every game is a local derby against teams with the local council borough.

Meet the squad - or what's left of it after 112 games!

The Premiership - Final standings

Who made it to the Premiership next season?

Conclusion

There we go, everyone is totally wrecked, due to the size of the season, they have about 7 weeks off before they go again. Not bad for a load of 14 year olds really, but lets see what happens year on year!

Braggng rights to Mark Hughes this year, he finished above me in the league and in the 4 games we played, he beat me 3 times and we had a draw.
Season 2

Season 2 is now over, and Darlington Town once again beat me in head to head games, 4 games played and I had 4 losses, including a 6-1 home stuffing from them.
They also won the Openshaw league which was disappointing as we were leading it at one point in the season.
Still we both got promoted, this season there was a smaller amount of promotion places as this is the Vanarama North, going into the Vanarama League, so much fewer spaces.
The Premiership was business as usual for the top clubs, and I think all the clubs relegated from it last year made their back up!

Season 3

I just managed to finish off season 3 so am essentially caught up with real life at the time of posting this.

I finally managed to register my first win over Darlington Town, having played them 5 times this season, including once in the FA trophy we beat them away 2-0, we also had an away draw. Strangely in the three home games we lost two of them 5-1, and they knocked us out of the FA trophy with a 2-1 as well.

In thirteen games between ourselves and Darlington town so far we've won 1, drawn 2, and lost 10!

Darlington Town also won both leagues, while we only managed sixth place.

Poor Esh Winning we beat them 24-0 lol.

Still we'll see them again next season where we can have another pop at them.
