Crystal Palace have today reached an agreement that has seen manager Roy Hodgson resign a year ahead of his proposed contract expiry, and the Selhurst Park outfit have wasted little time in replacing their coach.

Former Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi has put to bed claims that he is set to join Shakthar Donetsk after leaving his role at the Italian side by signing a two-year deal as the new Crystal Palace Head Coach.

As a player, De Zerbi came through the youth ranks at A.C. Milan before spending four seasons on loan at lower division clubs in the Italian game, before being sold to U.S Foggia where he made 56 appearances across two years.

The former attacking midfielder would then enjoy spells at Arrezo, Calcio Catania and later Napoli, where he would stay until 2010 before joining Romanian side CFR Cluj.

As a manager, his main achievements have come at Sassuolo, where in a three year spell his side were praised for their footballing style and overachieving results, which lead the club to an eighth placed finish last season.

The 2020/21 season will be underway soon, and it is thought the 41-year-old will make widespread changes to the backroom staff he has inherited at Selhurst.
