Hopefully this works for everyone else, please respond if it helps or not so that hopefully it gets added to the FAQ and helps out others.
I was initially running genie scout as administrator as mentioned in the instructions, which seems to be causing the issue. Try running the program by just double clicking instead of as administrator and see if that helps, the other thing I did differently was instead of hitting the load button the the top quick access bar, I opened the top left drop down and clicked load.
Give those a try and see if it helps.
Note: I loaded it as admin first but in game scout wasn't working so I closed it and re-opened as mentioned above, if you are still have issues with the above steps, maybe try opening it as admin first, loading, and then closing and opening not as admin and see if maybe that's what unlocks it.
