The Story Begins...

In the 2018/19 Season, Norwich City are promoted as Champions to the Premier League after spending an entire season playing some of the most breath-taking football the Championship has ever seen.
However, in the following season they are sent crashing back down, relegated having lost 71% of their games in English Footballs Top Flight.

In the 2020/21 season, yet again Norwich bossed the Championship winning promotion on 97 points, averaging 2.11 points per game!

After being branded previously a team "happy to be the 21st best" in England, this time Norwich City are determined to do it differently.
They are happy to spend the money, they are happy to change the style of play but they want results.
They need FMFO's Josh Inue

The aim - In just 3 seasons to establish Norwich City as a Premier League team

Day One...

The first thing I noticed upon joining Norwich was just how well run the club was, not the team, the club. Their facilities were all of such a high standard and there was less than £5mil of debt but as it was being being serviced at only just over £100k per month, you'd hardly notice it! Plus, there was over £20mil in the bank and money to spend both in wages and on transfers!

The staffing set up all seemed pretty good, with an Assistant Manager with stats good enough to mean I didn't have to immediately sack his ass, and only one scout that stats which would make you think he'd struggle to find a star in the sky on a clear night!
There were around 748 Sports Scientists, but as the Board had already flagged this as a concern, I was comfortable in handing out the P45s to bring this back down to a manageable level.

The concerns however, came with the squad...

A huge amount of players had already been brought in (13 in total!) but none that really screamed quality. Ben Gibson is not too bad and Lees-Melou and Mathias Normann were both good in midfield with Rashica a tidy winger. But frustratingly, there were another 2 loans that the team just didn't need in Gilmour (a quality player but one in an already full midfield) and Kabak (a seemingly good player but a concern given his Liverpool performances) and a young winger in Christos Tzolis, who although I'm sure will be a fine player in the future, it seems to be £9.5mil that could've been spent on someone who could make an impact now!

With only Josh Sargent as back up for Pukki (my most favourite name to say!) I felt there were changes needed everywhere!

Given that although there was surplus in the wage and transfer budgets, I was hoping to save this for one good player rather than a number of cheaper/compromised players, so I took a look in the free agent market!

Picking up a number of quality free players on 4 week trials, I felt rather confident we could potentially cover all our needs without spending a penny on fees.
Frustratingly, as the weeks went on, one by one the better players were picked off by better teams - or thsoe just with bigger budgets... So, I had to dive in!

Quickly finding Blaise Matuidi available from Inter Miami, I had (for just £250k) what I hoped would be a solid, level headed bit of experience for my midfield. Soon followed one after another, after another, after another, after another with us then reaching Deadline day and I was still concerned the strength in depth just wasn't there to help us avoid, YELLOW PERIL!

A yoyo start for the yoyo Team...

During pre-season, I successfully managed to ship out the lesser thans in my coaching team, managing to persuade the board to let me have more coach's (turns out just a few sherries while cooking and Delia becomes very amenable!) and set up the training schedule up until Christmas.
We also had a very successful set of friendlies, with 8 straight victories, conceding only 6 goals and scoring 30 goals! These weren't all jim and bobs local Sunday league team, we managed to get a 3-2 victory over Ajax!

We had also managed to bring in Iba Gomez as cover on the wing, Roger Marti as cover up front but were struggling for another CB, however, we felt confident as we entered the new season with a clear ambition to avoid the relegation battle

Sadly, we did not get the start we wanted...
Opening day against Arteta's Arsenal at Carrow Road would certainly be a challenge.
After being dominated throughout the first half, we some how found ourselves in the box when during a corner scramble, an Arsenal defender foolishly brought down a Norwich player.
Young Todd Cantwell (who we have been lucky to keep hold of) bravely stood up and put us in the lead, very much against the run of play.
Buoyed by this stroke of luck, we then began to dominate the game ourselves, crafting chance after chance, until the 87th minute, when our resolve finally broke and we conceded, only to then concede once again in the 91st minute, both goals to Lacazette

Following this game, we then faced against Aston Villa, a match that should certainly be viewed as winnable, or at the very least one we shouldn't be expecting defeat!
Yet, we were dominated throughout the game and ended up fortunate to walk away with a point!

Our next game was one I had very little concern for given the nature of the save and survival in the league being paramount, so a win in the Carabao Cup against Morecombe was neither here nor there!

We then went on a trip to the south coast to face Brighton, we were supreme in every department!
XG, Corners, possession, pass completion, you name it and we bossed it, coming away with all 3 points via a commanding 3-0 victory!

Disaster however, struck!

Max Aarons, our star RB is out, for 6 weeks!
A plunge into the transfer market on deadline day, may be a must!
