avatar problem

i've posted a comment and noticed that the background of my avatar (fcrs logo) is always black. why?

this is the original file i used, it has no background.

then i tried colouring the background in order to make it fit in with the site, and i used the .jpg extension:

and getting the same result!

Hi mate and welcome

The background is black because the internal image handling system doesn't support alpha opacity for png images. If you use the .jpg image properly it should show without any problems. Just make sure it's in proper size and dimensions (max 96x96 and 16kb).

Update:
On a side note, it will take a while for the updated avatar to show up due to aggressive caching. This happens because your avatar has a fixed filename. Waiting time is usually half an hour or so.
