My edited team is greyed out on FM21

I have added a couple of my friends into my team in the pre-game editor but when I try to start a new career the edited team is greyed out.

I double checked the team info and the players I created are there but it won't let me select the team to manage. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this?

Are you able to start the game, then add yourself as the manager of the team once the game starts, and just retire the first manager?

in the editor, it's possible the number of teams in the league for "next season" is incorrect. I had a similar problem and that was the fix. I was over by one team so I removed a team and that fixed the problem.
