+30 aged player finishing his career

i manage sporting CP, and i have a striker called Liedson which is a huge player, 35 games/38 goals till now, 10th february 2011!

but he's 33 years old and his aerobic stats have just started to decay!

i really like him and my board to, and i'd like him to finish his career here at SCP! is there any way to gradually remove him from the starting 11, back to sub, back to "available to the reserves", and also lower his salary a bit . . . . all that, without makin him unhappy or some crap??

preferably yet this season (2010/2011)

try to offer him new 1 or 2 year contract with backup squad status and of course try to negotiate lower salary...did the same thing with Giggs on my save

and he didnt get offended during the contract negotiations? he accepted your proposition just that easily??

i'm afraid liedson's personality will condemn this deal
but i'll try, ill let u know when i reach close the end of the season, cause right now he's ON FIRE

i've faced the same situation with a few players. Fortunately they all requested a less important role themselves (mostly squad rotation) and less money too.
on the other hand none of them could be compared to liedson,I know he's a real beast,one of my very favorites!
well, good luck with the negotiations iiiioooque, i believe squad rotation should be the the best for both club and player...

i'll keep i'm scoring till close to the end of the season, when kevin gameiro or maybe mikhail pirtskhalaishvili will take over his role !

i negotiated with his agent, not directly to him...anyway he agreed to be backup player, altough he was 35 or 36 then, maybe that was main reason for him to accept

well he's 33, i'll give it a try and see what happens!
