Hello!

I started a new season as Liverpool and have made the following transfers:

In:
Miralem Pjanic
Yann M'Vila
Fabio Coentrao
Roque Santa Cruz (Loan)

Out:
Christian Poulsen (Loan)
Ryan Babel (Loan)

Can someone suggest a formation that would fit my players? I started the season reasonably well using a 4-1-2-2-1 (with a DM, 2 wide midfielders, 2 AMs and 1 forward), but I am struggling to beat the top teams.

Please advise!! Thanks!
For Liverpool you need wingers, not wide midfielders. Try 4-2-3-1(you can use 4-2-3-1 deep if you like, deep is just indstead of CM you have DM). 4 defenders, 2 MF with one of them a more defensive one, on CAM and 2 Wingers on both sides of him. Then a lone striker. At least that's what works for me on the regular Lvp squad.
formations change depending on who's starting and who you're playing against. its rare you're gonna get a team of players and formation where it works as it is without minor tweaks against every team.

Tottaly disagree with you. I
rarelly change my tactics, only against much stronger opponents where i choose 4-3-2-1 instead of regular 4-2-3-1.
I believe in my strategy and tactics so if someone has to change let this be my opponent. I'm not the best Fm player for sure but I'think you must trust and support your choises.
In addition, players dont react well when you change formation right?
I think the main purpose of having 3 tactical options makes obsolete the idea of changing the tactic accordingly to every game!

You should choose a base formation for the majority of matches, then with the other two slots, you can make minor adjustments to that base tactic youve chosen to slot 1. Of course all of this choices must be according to the players you either already have or intend to buy.

I play in 4-2-3-1, and my 2nd and 3rd slots are either extra defensive or extra offensive. But mostly I play with the 1st one!!

now about the topic subject, i must ask why don't you use our most helpfull and well known genie scout and see what he has to say about the tactic you should use?!
well i rarely change my 4-4-2 but still there is no universal tactic, every opponent requires different approach,so changes are necessary, maybe in formation, maybe in fine tuning of game plan but changes are required.
changes are not required for every game only if you play with a strong team.
i say find a solid formation and make sure you have tweeks for defending, pushing foreward etc. i recomend 4-1-2-2-1 CB-WB-DMC-MC-W-FC... or just 4-2-3-1 deep as suggested eariler

I think youre right, but i rarely change my formation! I prefer to adjust my style of passing, pace of the game, tempo and stuff like that! My players are completely familiar with my tactic, and yes i do play with a strong team!

for lower league teams, its a different matter, cause they have to adjust their game, and usually are on the defensive end, playing in counter-attack!
